Saints WR Michael Thomas will "likely" have surgery this offseason to repair a torn deltoid and other injured ligaments in his ankle, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Thomas hurt that ankle in Week 1, didn't return until Week 9 and played the rest of the way with pain medication, per Schefter. It's safe to say that Thomas was never at full strength after the opener. Assuming better health, he'll be a prime 2021 bounce-back candidate.

The Saints have added WR Michael Thomas to the active roster, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. That comes as no surprise after a practice week filled with positive reports. Thomas looks ready for Sunday's game against the Bears.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Saints WR Michael Thomas' "progress has been good" in his ankle rehab. Thomas was placed on IR ahead of Week 15, seemingly to get him ready for the postseason. He's expected to be limited in Wednesday's practice, per Rapoport, and then "will ramp up during the week." Thoma is fully expected to play vs. the Bears on Sunday.

The Saints have placed WR Michael Thomas (ankle) on IR. So he'll miss the final 3 games of the regular season. The team expects Thomas "close to 100% for the start of the playoffs," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith will operate as New Orleans' top 2 WRs vs. the Chiefs, Vikings and Panthers the next 3 weeks. Jared Cook is back in the TE1 mix with Thomas out and QB Drew Brees back.

Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. It's unclear if he suffered a setback with that ankle in last week's loss to the Eagles or early in the practice week. Either way, QB Drew Brees will return with Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith as his top 2 WRs. RB Alvin Kamara and TE Jared Cook also project for target bumps with Thomas sidelined.

Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. He was on the injury report with the ankle last week but got in 3 limited practices. It's unclear at this point if Thomas is in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but it's at least safe to say the ankle is worse off this week than last. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.
