The Titans are declining the 5th-year option on the rookie contract of former 1st-round LB Rashaan Evans. That makes 2021 the final campaign on his deal. Assuming Evans doesn't explode and earn a new contract, his expected departure could benefit Jayon Brown and/or David Long.
Titans LB Rashaan Evans was ejected in the 1st quarter of Monday night's game against the Broncos for punching the facemask of Denver TE Jake Butt. We'll see if Evans faces any discipline beyond this game.
Titans rookie ILB Rashaan Evans returned to practice Wednesday. Evans spent more than 3 weeks sidelined for "heat-related" reasons, ESPN's Turron Davenport reports. We don't yet know any further details of the issue. Evans had been splitting snaps with veteran Will Compton before going down. The 1st-round pick figures to get back to that before too long, but the lost time will make it tougher for Evans to take over the spot by himself. We've knocked Evans down the LB rankings. He's a risk/reward pick at the bottom of LB3 range.
Update: Aaaaand Evans left his 1st practice back. “Rashaan wasn’t feeling great after individual, so we’ll give him some more treatment, and we’ll give him some more time,” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said, according to TitanInsider.com. “As soon as he’s ready, we’ll get him back out there.”
The Titans on Sunday placed rookie LB Rashaan Evans on the non-football illness list as they opened training camp for all rookies, QBs and players who finished the offseason program with injuries. We've seen nothing further about Evans' illness, so we'll assume it's not a big deal. He's eligible to come off the list at any point during camp. Tennessee also placed 3rd-year OLB Kevin Dodd on the "reserve -- did not report" list. That follows Dodd unexpectedly sitting out offseason workouts. The former 2nd-round pick has appeared in just 18 games through 2 seasons and tallied only 1 sack. We'll see if his future holds any NFL relevance.
The Titans traded up from 25th to 22nd in the NFL Draft's 1st round for Alabama LB Rashaan Evans. A versatile player in college, Evans should start right away inside for the Titans, who let Avery Williamson walk in free agency. There will be numbers available for Evans. After playing a lot of edge and seeing more than half of his career snaps last season, though, Evans has a bit more to prove than some other LBs.
