NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says Patriots QB Tom Brady's elbow injury is "a thing." We haven't heard much about the issue, but Brady has been listed on the injury report for the past 3 weeks now. "His practice time has been pretty limited as he nurses that elbow injury," Rapoport adds. Brady was sporting a huge wrap on the throwing elbow after Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. The 42-year-old has completed just 51.5% of his passes and averaged 5.4 yards per attempt over his last 4 games. Despite a plus matchup against the Bengals, Brady isn't a recommended QB1 for Week 15.
Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) is active for today’s game against the Cowboys. We’re not expecting the elbow to be an issue, but Brady is a weak QB1 play with his depleted WR corps.
Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) will play against the Cowboys today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The team reportedly monitored Brady's throwing elbow over the weekend, but we didn't hear any concern about the issue beyond that. Brady seems safe to use as you normally would.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Patriots QB Tom Brady is expected to play against the Cowboys on Sunday, despite being listed as questionable with a right elbow issue. "More managing the elbow and taking care of it than anything," Rapoport adds. It's worth noting that Brady posted an ugly 55.3% completion rate and 4.6 yards per attempt in last week's win over the Eagles. He's no better than a low-end QB1 for Week 12.
Patriots QB Tom Brady was added to the injury report on Friday with a right (throwing) elbow issue. He was limited in practice and is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Cowboys. We haven't heard anything to suggest that this is a real concern, but it's certainly worth keeping an eye on. We'll pass along any updates we get.
The forecast for today's Browns-Patriots game calls for a 100% chance of rain, with heavy rainfall at times possible. The wind will be at just 7-14 mph, so that shouldn't have a major impact. But this will be a wet one. We've made some slight adjustments to our projections for this game.
The Patriots have traded a 2nd-round pick to the Falcons in exchange for WR Mohamed Sanu. New England tried to acquire Sanu during this spring's draft, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, so it's clearly a player the team covets. Sanu was a steady producer in Atlanta, averaging 4.2 catches and 47 yards per game over the past 3+ seasons. He played primarily in the slot for the Falcons, but we'll see how he fits into the Patriots' WR corps alongside Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon (once he's back from his knee injury), Phillip Dorsett and Jakobi Meyers. When everyone's healthy, it figures to be Edelman, Gordon and Sanu in 3-WR sets. Sanu has a brand new offense to learn, though. And note that he's going from the league's 2nd pass-heaviest offense to its 14th run-heaviest. Sanu is worth stashing in most fantasy leagues but won't be a recommended Week 8 starter. The Falcons, meanwhile, figures to roll with either Justin Hardy or Russell Gage as the #3 WR. But Sanu's departure will mostly just free up extra targets for Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper.
The forecast for Thursday night's game between the Giants and Patriots calls for rain and wind gusts of 30+ mph. That's enough to impact the passing and kicking games. Hopefully you're not relying on anything in New York's passing game. We nudged QB Tom Brady and WRs Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon down the Week 6 Rankings -- but they all still sit safely inside starter territory in this pristine matchup. Try to avoid both Ks in this game.
Patriots WR Josh Gordon announced Thursday that he's stepping away from the team to focus on his mental health. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Gordon is facing another indefinite suspension for violating terms of his reinstatement under the substance abuse policy. Don't expect to see him on the field again this season -- and this could spell the end of Gordon's NFL career. It's obviously a significant loss for the Patriots. Gordon has played over 70% of New England offensive snaps since arriving and averaged 6.2 targets per game. WR Chris Hogan would seem like the big winner, but he averaged just 4.7 targets and 2.3 catches over the first 3 weeks before the Gordon trade. We should see some more WR Cordarrelle Patterson, while WR Julian Edelman, TE Rob Gronkowski and RB James White could also pick up an extra target or 2.
Update: Gordon has been suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the substance abuse policy. It's the 5th suspension of his NFL career and could result in permanent banishment from the league.
Patriots QB Tom Brady played the entire 1st half of Thursday night's preseason game against the Eagles. He finished 19 of 26 for 172 yards and 2 TDs -- 1 to WR Chris Hogan and 1 to RB James White. Brady had been limited in training camp with a back issue but looked no worse for wear in this one. He remains 1 of the top QBs in fantasy football -- and worth a look if he gets into the 7th round of fantasy drafts.
