Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Patriots QB Drake Maye (concussion) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That means he's made some progress through the protocol and has a chance to be cleared in time to play vs. the Titans this weekend. We'll keep you updated on the rookie's status over the next few days.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry led the team with 5 receptions in Sunday's win over the Jets. His 45 receiving yards trailed WR Kayshon Boutte by 1 for the team lead. And they tied for the team lead with 6 targets apiece.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson scored twice in Sunday's surprising victory over the Jets. That dramatically boosted a line that included 20 carries for just 48 yards. Stevenson also caught all three of his targets for 17 yards.
Patriots QB Drake Maye left in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets to be checked for a concussion. He's officially questionable to return. We'll update his status when we know more. QB Jacoby Brissett will replace Maye.
Update: Maye has been ruled out with a concussion. It's his first documented concussion. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week.
Patriots S Kyle Dugger is inactive for today's game against the Jets because of an ankle injury. He was a late addition to the injury report, landing on it Saturday with a "questionable" tag. His absence leaves Marte Mapu and Jaylinn Hawkins as the safety starters. Elsewhere on the Patriots defense, Edge Josh Uche is a healthy scratch. That might indicate he's getting traded this week. Uche has seen too little playing time with New England to be fantasy relevant. We'd have to see what his role might look like elsewhere.
Patriots WR Ja’Lynn Polk (concussion) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jets. The rookie is off to a rough start, catching just 10 of 26 targets for 78 yards and one TD through seven games. Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, and Kendrick Bourne figure to operate as New England’s top three WRs this weekend.
Patriots WR Ja'Lynn Polk is in concussion protocol, HC Jerod Mayo said Wednesday. That makes the rookie iffy for this weekend's game vs. the Jets. Polk, of course, is well off the redraft radar right now. He's caught just 10 of 26 targets for 78 yards through seven games.
Douglas only had 3 targets, catching two for 14 yards against the Jaguars. He is just a week removed from his six cath, 92 yard game with a TD last week. Douglas’ snap count was down with the Patriots running more 12 personnel, so Douglas may be a volatile play going forward.
Rookie Patriots QB Drake Maye impressed with an early TD drive in London. He ended the game completing 26-of-37 passes for 276 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran three times for 18 yards.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars in London. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re not expecting the foot to be a major issue. Stevenson is fine to get into Week 7 fantasy lineups as a fringe RB2. Jacksonville ranks 30th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs.
The Patriots are expecting RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) to play vs. the Jaguars on Sunday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Stevenson is listed as questionable but was a full-go in Friday's practice. Assuming he plays, Stevenson should step back into the lead role in New England's backfield. He sits 22nd in our Week 7 RB Rankings, boosted by the matchup against Jacksonville's 30th-ranked RB defense.
Patriots QB Drake Maye (knee) is not listed on the final Week 7 injury report. He reportedly went for an MRI on his knee after Wednesday’s practice but was a full participant on both Thursday and Friday. There’s no reason to believe the knee will be a factor in Sunday morning’s game vs. the Jaguars.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Jaguars in London. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice and said that he expects to play. We’ll get New England’s inactives around 8 am ET on Sunday. Assuming Stevenson is active, he should slide back in as the Patriots’ lead back.
Patriots QB Drake Maye (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. He reportedly had an MRI on his knee on Wednesday, but it must not have shown anything to worry about. Maye will be ready to go for Sunday morning's game vs. the Jaguars.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He now seems unlikely to play vs. the Jaguars in London on Sunday morning. With Stevenson out last week, RB Antonio Gibson led New England's backfield with a 51% snap rate, 13 of 21 RB carries, and four targets. He busted with just 43 scoreless yards in that one, but the workload projection at least makes him a RB3 or Flex option in Week 7 fantasy lineups.
Patriots QB Drake Maye had an MRI on his knee after Wednesday's practice, according to The Boston Globe's Ben Volin. Maye was listed as a full participant on Wednesday, but the knee must have been bothering him enough to get it checked out. We'll see what that MRI reveals -- and what it means for Maye's availability for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. If he's unable to play, New England would turn back to QB Jacoby Brissett.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. HC Jerod Mayo said last week that Stevenson isn't dealing with a long-term injury, but he's certainly not a lock to be available for Sunday morning's game vs. the Jaguars in London. With Stevenson out last week, RB Antonio Gibson handled 13 carries and four targets but mustered just 43 total yards.
Patriots WR Demario Douglas has played almost exclusively in three-WR sets so far this season. But HC Jerod Mayo said after the Week 6 loss to the Texans that he'll "absolutely" consider playing Douglas in two-WR sets going forward. "He’s one of our best receivers, he can get open against anyone," Mayo added. Douglas was easily New England's most productive receiver vs. Houston, leading the team with nine targets, six catches, and 92 yards. He's now seen exactly nine targets in three of the last four games. More playing time would only boost his weekly fantasy floor and ceiling. Douglas is worth adding this week in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.
Patriots RB Antonio Gibson did not perform as the starter replacing RB Rhamondre Stevenson. Gibson rushed the ball 13 times for 19 yards. He caught three passes for 24 yards as well. Stevenson may be back for the Patriots next game.
Patriots QB Drake Maye threw a beautiful pass for his first NFL TD, completing 20 of his 33 passes for 243 yards for 3 TDs and 2 INTs. He also ran for 38 yards on 5 carries. Maye played within structure to overcome a battered offensive line.
