Darius Slayton Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Giants WRs Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Kenny Golladay (knee) are out for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. What else is new? Darius Slayton (26 routes), Marcus Johnson (26), Richie James (13) and Wan'Dale Robinson (12) operated as New York's top 4 WRs last week. Robinson is the only potential fantasy option -- and he's a risky play until we see his route rate climb.

Giants WR Darius Slayton led the team in targets (7), receptions (6) and receiving yards (79) in Sunday's win over the Packers. No other Giant caught more than 3 passes or topped 36 yards. Saquon Barkley was the only other player with more than 3 targets, catching 3 of 6 for 36 yards. WR Marcus Johnson caught all 3 of his targets for 35 yards after being elevated from the practice squad. He also led the crew in total snaps and routes run. Richie James and David Sills V supplied just 2 catches apiece, ranking 3rd and 4th -- respectively -- in snaps.

Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Packers in London. He put in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday but was sidelined on Friday. That doesn't bode well for Robinson's chances of returning in Week 6. With WRs Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay also out this weekend, New York is down to WRs Richie James, David Sills, Darius Slayton and Marcus Johnson.

Giants WRs Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. Neither guy practiced all week. With WR Sterling Shepard out with his torn ACL, the Giants are down to WRs Richie James, David Sills, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton.

The Giants and WR Darius Slayton have negotiated a pay cut that will keep the wideout on the team, according to Newsboy's Tom Rock. Slayton agreed to drop his salary from $2.54 million to the league minimum of $965,000, with incentives that could rebound the number. The move saves the Giants $1.6 million in cap space. Although the agreement keeps Slayton on the team, it clearly doesn't bode well for his role in the offense.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News noted Friday that WR Darius Slayton was running with the 3rd team. That's a notable fall for a guy who has exceeded 80 targets twice in 3 NFL seasons. We already expected Slayton to be brushed aside in this year's offense, with Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay entering their 2nd Giants seasons and Wan'Dale Robinson arriving in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. Consider this a signal to not even look Slayton's way much as an end-of-draft flyer in best-ball tournaments. Slayton could be in danger of missing the Giants' regular-season roster.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants have had discussions about moving on from WR Darius Slayton. Raanan actually wrote that such discussions started last year — before New York overhauled its coaching staff and front office, of course. Slayton reportedly struggled with drops in offseason practices and routinely worked with backups. The 25-year-old is off the redraft radar.

Giants WR Kadarius Toney (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s finale vs. Washington. The rookie flashed when on the field but ultimately missed 6 games and parts of a few more with a variety of injuries. WR Darius Slayton is off the COVID list and figures to start alongside WR Kenny Golladay on Sunday.

Giants WR Kadarius Toney (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. WRs Darius Slayton, John Ross and Collin Johnson are also out, leaving Pharoh Cooper, David Sills and Alex Bachman behind Kenny Golladay on the WR depth chart. Golladay still isn’t a bankable fantasy play with Jake Fromm or Mike Glennon under center.

Giants WR Darius Slayton has been placed on the COVID list. He'll likely miss Sunday's game vs. the Bears -- but hopefully wasn't in your fantasy plans.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard (quad) and Kadarius Toney (quad) are inactive for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. With those guys out last week, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton operated as New York's primary outside WRs, with Pharoh Cooper in the slot. Try to avoid the situation in fantasy lineups, especially with Mike Glennon under center.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard (quad) and Kadarius Toney (quad) are listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. With those guys out last week, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton operate as New York's primary outside WRs, with Pharoh Cooper in the slot. Try to avoid the situation in fantasy lineups, especially with Mike Glennon under center.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (quad) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. WR Kadarius Toney (quad) is listed as doubtful. TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) is also doubtful, while WR John Ross (quad) is questionable. Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton will operate as New York's top 2 WRs this weekend. TE Evan Engram should at least theoretically play a big role in the passing game.

The Giants fired OC Jason Garrett. His squad ranked 31st in both total yards and points in 2020. This year's Giants currently sit 23rd in yards and 25th in points. Garrett was strapped with an uneven QB, a bad offensive line and lots of skill-position injuries -- but his offense never showed the slightest hint of creativity. Freddie Kitchens is expected to take over as interim OC, according to The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy. Kitchens struggled as Browns HC in 2019 but did spark the offense after taking over as OC midway through the 2018 campaign. We don't expect a big rebound from the Giants the rest of the way, but Kitchens can only be an upgrade over Garrett.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (quad) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. He didn't practice all week and is uncertain for Week 12 and beyond. Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton will be New York's top 3 WRs this week.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (quad) is out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) is listed as questionable after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Out since Week 5, Golladay would be a risky fantasy play if he ends up active. WR John Ross (quad) is also listed as questionable, while WR Dante Pettis (shoulder) was placed on IR on Friday. Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton are New York's top 2 healthy WRs.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. WRs Darius Slayton (hamstring) and John Ross (hamstring) are active. They figure to join Dante Pettis as New York’s top 3 WRs. Slayton has some WR3 appeal as the likely target leader.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Giants WRs Darius Slayton (hamstring) and John Ross (hamstring) are expected to play against the Panthers today, barring a setback in pregame warmups. WR Sterling Shepard, meanwhile, is a game-time decision with his hamstring injury. We'll get his status around 11:30 am ET, but Shepard will obviously come with elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he ends up active.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and John Ross are questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers with their hamstring injuries. Slayton seems to be in the best shape after putting in 3 limited practices this week. Ross was limited on Thursday and Friday. Shepard was added to the injury report on Thursday and then limited on Friday. He looks like the shakiest bet to play on Sunday. The Giants' healthy WRs right now are Dante Pettis and Collin Johnson. We'll get the team's inactives around 11:30 am ET.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard was added to Thursday's injury report as limited with a hamstring. We don't have any details right now, but mid-week downgrades are never good. WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) remained limited on Thursday, while WR John Ross (hamstring) returned to a limited practice after sitting out Wednesday. We'll update the Giants' banged-up WR corps again tomorrow.
