Donovan Wilson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson suffered an injury to his right leg in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss to the 49ers. Former NFL team doctor David Chao says there's "some hope by video the injury is not significant." We'll watch for the diagnosis. Wilson played a season-high 77% of Dallas snaps in his third game back from a calf injury before leaving. If he misses further time, Markquese Bell would get some extra snaps. Bell hasn't played more than 45% of defensive snaps in any game yet this year, though.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jets with the calf injury that has kept him off the field for weeks. Wilson did return for limited practice participation Thursday and Friday. Combine that with Dallas' decision not to put him on IR to open the year, and it's clear the team hopes to get Wilson back by at least Week 4. We'll see about his status for Week 3, though it'll be tough to trust Wilson in IDP lineups immediately upon his return.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson is expected to miss four to six weeks after straining his right calf in practice this week, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. That timeline could reach into the regular season. Dallas' defense should be OK, with former starter Malik Hooker as the third safety. Wilson's absence could mean more time in the box for S Jayron Kearse, though. He already looked like a value for fantasy football drafts by our IDP rankings.

The Cowboys have agreed to a three-year deal with S Donovan Wilson that includes $24 million total and full guarantees on the first two years, according to NFL Network's Mike Garofolo. Wilson got his first chance at full-time starting duty last season -- his fourth in Dallas -- and racked up big numbers. He led all Cowboys with 101 tackles and led all NFL DBs with 5 sacks. Wilson ranked among the top 12 fantasy scorers at the position. The money locks him in for at least one more year of starting, and likely two. That makes Wilson worth keeping in dynasty leagues. And he'll almost certainly land a top-20 spot among DBs in our 2023 IDP rankings.

Cowboys EDGE Demarcus Lawrence (foot), LB/EDGE Micah Parsons (knee, ankle) and S Donovan Wilson (illness) are active for today's game against the Giants.

Cowboys EDGE Demarcus Lawrence (foot), LB Micah Parsons (knee, ankle) and S Donovan Wilson (illness) are questionable for Thursday's game against the Giants. Parsons said Tuesday that he'll be ready to play. Wilson didn't pop up on the injury report until missing Wednesday's practice. Lawrence played through the same issue last week, so we'd bet on him playing. We'll check the status on all 3 Thursday afternoon.

Cowboys S Jayron Kearse (knee) is inactive for the 3rd straight game. That leaves Donovan Wilson as a strong starter against a pass-leaning Washington offense that arrives as an underdog.

Cowboys S Jayron Kearse has put in 2 straight limited practices this week, his 1st action since spraining his left MCL in the opener. If Kearse is ready to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Washington, it would likely mean a large decrease in playing time for S Donovan Wilson. We'll see about Kearse's game status after Friday's workout.

Cowboys S Jayron Kearse sprained his left MCL in Sunday night's loss to the Buccaneers. Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports that the team expects him to miss 2-4 games. That will put Donovan Wilson into the starting lineup while Kearse is out. Wilson supplied 5 tackles, 1 QB hit and an INT against Tampa Bay and has delivered starter-level fantasy numbers in the past (before Kearse claimed his gig).

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (ankle) and DE Randy Gregory (knee) are active for today’s game against the Patriots. S Damontae Kazee (hip) and S Donovan Wilson (groin) are also active. We’d still bet on Jayron Kearse keeping the starting gig that once belonged to Wilson

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers. It'll be his 3rd straight game missed with the groin injury. Fill-in Jayron Kearse sits 23rd among 131 safeties in Pro Football Focus grade and might not cede the job back to Wilson when Wilson is healthy again. DE Randy Gregory is questionable with a knee injury. He popped up on the injury report after missing practice Thursday, then put in a limited Friday workout.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson (groin) is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Eagles. That leaves Jayron Kearse to start in his place again. There's some upside to Kearse for deeper IDP leagues.

The Cowboys have downgraded S Donovan Wilson to out for today's game against the Chargers. He did not travel with the team because of the groin injury that originally rendered him questionable. Malik Hooker is expected to make his Dallas debut and play in Wilson's place. Damontee Kazee is the better bet for IDP production but brings his own risk. Kazee is questionable with his own thigh injury.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers with a groin injury. It's an aggravation of an issue that dogged him through most of August. The fact that he logged no practice time despite the long week following a Week 1 Thursday night contest doesn't seem to bode well. S Damonte Kazee is also questionable after sustaining with a thigh injury Thursday. He finished the week with a limited Friday practice. We'll check the status on both players Sunday afternoon.
