Joe Flacco Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been benched for Joe Flacco ahead of the Week 9 match-up against the Vikings. Richardson completed only 10-of-32 passes in last week's loss to the Houston Texans throwing one TD and one INT. He was also sacked five times in the game.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) will start Sunday's game against the Dolphins "unless there's a setback," HC Shane Steichen said Monday. Richardson was surprisingly inactive for the Week 6 win over the Titans, despite practicing all week. Perhaps QB Joe Flacco's middling performance in that one was enough to push Richardson back into the starting lineup. He'll return to a plus matchup against a Dolphins defense sitting 24th in DVOA. But Richardson will be a risky QB1 play based on what we've seen from him so far this season. His return is also bad news for WRs Josh Downs and Michael Pittman.

Colts WR Josh Downs caught 7 of 9 targets for 66 yards and a TD. With QB Joe Flacco getting the start, Downs put up another solid fantasy performance.

Colts QB Joe Flacco will start today's game vs. the Titans, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) will serve as the emergency third QB. Flacco played well in the Week 5 loss to the Jaguars, throwing for 359 yards and three scores. Today's matchup is tougher, so Flacco is not a recommended QB1 play. But he's good news for WRs Josh Downs and Michael Pittman.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Titans. He was limited in Wednesday’s practice, a full-go on Thursday, and then limited again on Friday. HC Shane Steichen said Friday that Richardson made “huge strides” this week but will be a game-time decision. We’ll get the Colts’ inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. QB Joe Flacco will start if Richardson can’t.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) remained limited in Wednesday's practice. He was limited all last week before missing the Jaguars game. Richardson's status for this weekend's game vs. the Titans remains uncertain. We'll track his progress over the next few days.

Colts WR Michael Pittman is expected to miss "multiple weeks" with a back injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Pittman didn't practice on Wednesday, so this injury presumably occurred in the Week 5 loss to the Jaguars. We'll look for more details on the injury and Pittman's timetable for return, but Schefter adds that, "injured reserve is an option."

Colts QB Joe Flacco threw for 359 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, filling in for the injured Anthony Richardson. He completed 33 of 44 passes, took 4 sacks, avoided INTs, but lost a fumble. Flacco hit WR Michael Pittman Jr., WR Alec Pierce, and TE Mo Alie-Cox for scores. He also rushed for 22 yards on three attempts.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. QB Joe Flacco starts in his place. The 39-year-old threw for 168 yards with two TDs and 0 INTs in relief of Richardson last week. And he averaged 323 yards and 2.6 TDs per game across five starts for the Browns last year. Flacco sits well into QB2 range in the Week 5 Rankings, but he’s a significant upgrade for Colts pass catchers.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been downgraded to Doubtful for Sundays game against the Jaguars. QB Joe Flacco will start for the Colts, most likely giving the offense a very different feel and game plan

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler hears from a source close to Colts QB Anthony Richardson that he's shaping up as a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Jaguars. "He wants to play, but it's a matter of functionality," Fowler adds. "Can he be himself running and throwing 100%? It's not a situation where that oblique injury can worsen, so that's the good news. ... Joe Flacco took a lot of the reps this week ... typically that tells the story." It sure sounds like Fowler believes Flacco is more likely to start against Jacksonville than Richardson. We'll look for further updates on the situation and get Indianapolis' inactives around 11:30 am ET tomorrow.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. He was limited in practice all week. QB Joe Flacco was reportedly taking the first-team reps in the portion of Friday’s practice open to the media. We’ll look for further updates on Richardson’s status and get the Colts’ inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. WRs Michael Pittman and Josh Downs will get significant boosts up our rankings if Flacco ends up starting.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson is considered "day to day" with oblique and abdominal strains suffered in the Week 4 win over the Steelers, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "He has a shot to play this week against the Jaguars," Pelissero adds. It's about the best possible news Richardson owners could have hoped for, although if his mobility is at all compromised, it'd take a big bite out of his fantasy value. We'll track Richardson's progress throughout this week. QB Joe Flacco will start if Richardson doesn't. Flacco would be an upgrade for the Colts' pass-catchers.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been diagnosed with a hip pointer, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reports. The "hope" is that Richardson "misses very little or no game action," Wolfe adds. It's relatively good news, although it sounds like Richardson isn't a lock to be ready for Week 5. We'll keep you updated on his progress this coming week.

Colts QB Anthony Richardson suffered a hip injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. He briefly returned before taking another hit and heading back to the locker room. Stay tuned for an update. QB Joe Flacco has taken over for Indianapolis.

Update: Richardson has been downgraded to out.

The Colts signed QB Joe Flacco to a one-year deal worth "up to" $8.7 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Flacco gets $4.5 million guaranteed. The 2023 Comeback Player of the Year played well down the stretch for the Browns last season, averaging 321 passing yards on a 63% completion rate and 7.7 yards per attempt across six outings. He tossed 14 TDs but also 10 INTs. Flacco is quality insurance for the Colts behind QB Anthony Richardson, who made it through just two full games as a rookie last year. The signing makes guys like WR Michael Pittman and WR Josh Downs slightly safer fantasy bets.
