Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are expected to use the franchise tag on WR Mike Williams. The deadline for teams to do so is 4 p.m. today, so we'll know Williams' status soon. We'd guess the 2 sides are working toward a longer-term deal, but the Chargers rank among league leaders in projected 2022 salary-cap space. So they have some flexibility here. For fantasy football draft purposes, expect Williams to remain a Charger.
Chargers WR Mike Williams has been activated from the COVID list, putting him on track to return for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. Williams has scored as a WR3 since a hot start to the season and carries some extra risk this week in his first game back from COVID.
Chargers WR Jalen Guyton has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. Guyton will only be a potential fantasy play if WR Mike Williams remains on the COVID list for that one.
The NFL announced changes to the COVID protocol on Tuesday. Most notable is that fully vaccinated players can be cleared and return in less than 5 days if their symptoms have improved, while unvaccinated players are out for at least 5 days from the positive test. This means guys like Carson Wentz, Mike Evans and Mike Williams have a chance to be cleared for Week 17. We'll keep you updated on all the guys on the COVID list.
Chargers HC Brandon Staley confirmed Monday that WR Mike Williams will miss the Week 17 game against the Broncos. That's because Williams tested positive for COVID late last week and is unvaccinated. So he's forced to stay away from the team for at least 10 days. Jalen Guyton has yet to return from the COVID list but could see an elevated role if he makes it back in time. Josh Palmer also gains prominence with Williams out.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Chargers WR Mike Williams will miss at least 10 days after testing positive for COVID Saturday, meaning that he's unvaccinated. That'll knock Williams out for at least the team's Week 17 game as well. Josh Palmer should fill in vs. Houston. Jalen Guyton will likely be back in time for Week 17, though.
The Chargers have placed WR Mike Williams on the COVID list. It's his 2nd stint this year, but the 1st came as a close contact. He's out for Sunday's game against the Texans. With Jalen Guyton already on the COVID list, Josh Palmer should be the #2 WR alongside Keenan Allen. He carries intrigue from at least WR4 territory. We wouldn't be shocked to see him rank among the top 25 WRs by the end of the week.
Chargers WR Mike Williams is officially active for today’s game vs. the Giants. He spent the week on the COVID list after being deemed a close contact of WR Keenan Allen. But Williams never tested positive for the virus and should be ready for a full workload today.
Chargers WR Mike Williams has been activated from the COVID list, setting him up to play against the Giants on Sunday. Williams didn't practice all week but should operate as Los Angeles' #1 WR tomorrow with WR Keenan Allen out with COVID.
Chargers WR Mike Williams is "on track" to play vs. the Giants on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Williams hasn't been activated from the COVID list yet, but it sounds like that'll happen later today.
The Chargers are "optimistic" that WR Mike Williams will be activated from the COVID list in time for Sunday's game vs. the Giants, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. A close contact of COVID-positive Keenan Allen, Williams has reportedly continued to test negative. If that continues, he'll be out there on Sunday. We'll keep you updated.
The Chargers on Wednesday placed WR Mike Williams on the COVID list. He, of course, joins teammate WR Keenan Allen, potentially leaving QB Justin Herbert down his top 2 wideouts for Sunday's game against the Giants. We'll keep an eye on the situations for both players. Jalen Guyton and Joshua Palmer look like the next 2 WRs up. RB Austin Ekeler, TE Jared Cook and even TE Donald Parham could all be in for more targets, though, if Williams and Allen both miss the game. On defense, the Chargers also placed CB Chris Harris Jr. on the COVID list. That might be more interesting for fantasy purposes if the Giants weren't down to their 3rd QB.
Update: HC Brandon Staley says Williams and Harris are on the list merely as close contacts. That means each player can make it back for Sunday's game as long as he continues to test negative.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He’ll be in his usual role in Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) put in a full practice on Wednesday. He was limited to 38% of the offensive snaps in Week 6, but it looks like he'll be back to a full-go for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) is active for today’s game against the Ravens. He missed all 3 practices this week with what HC Brandon Staley said was swelling in his knee. There’s been no report on Williams being limited or on a snap count today, but he still comes with elevated risk in Week 6 fantasy lineups.
