Saints QB Jameis Winston (knee) will participate in team drills as training camp kicks off, HC Dennis Allen said Tuesday. "We feel good about where he's at physically," GM Mickey Loomis added. "We're going to proceed with caution with him, but he's going to be out there practicing." Winston continues to be on track to be ready for the season opener.

It's "all positive" for Saints QB Jameis Winston heading to training camp off last October's torn ACL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "In the pocket, he should look like Jameis Winston of old," Rapoport adds. "Now maybe early on, bootlegs might look a little different. Maybe a little slower than we're used to as he settles in. But the expectation is that full health is coming." We'll keep an eye on further reports on Winston's health in training camp -- and see if he gets any live reps in preseason games.

Saints QB Jameis Winston has yet to be cleared for 11-on-11 workouts, according to the team website. Winston has been seen on the field in OTAs but is awaiting that final clearance to practice in full. We'd expect it to come at least by some early point in training camp but will keep an eye on the situation. Andy Dalton has run the starting offense in Winston's absence this week.

Saints QB Jameis Winston was on the field with his team at OTAs this week. Katherine Terrell of The Athletic noted that he wore a "bulky" brace and sported a limp that "seemed more prominent when walking versus running." Neither of those things should be surprising for a player coming off an ACL repair, and it's obviously good that Winston was even taking part in the voluntary workouts. The QB said, though, that overcoming the ACL tear hasn't been the biggest challenge in this process. “The biggest thing about my specific injury was the meniscus,” he said. “It wasn’t the ACL and MCL. The MCL actually healed on its own before surgery and the ACL, Dr. Neal ElAttrache did a phenomenal job. … It was a pretty simple procedure. But the meniscus repair has been the biggest limiter for me right now, in terms of moving, rolling out, in terms of certain movements that I’m not able to do just because of the timetable of the recovery. But my ACL is very stable, my MCL is very stable. Right now I’m building around and fighting with the meniscus.” Again, the fact that Winston is on the field at all this early keeps us from worrying too much. But his progression through summer will certainly be worth tracking.

Per NFL insider Albert Breer, Saints QB Jameis Winston is nearing full clearance from his October ACL tear. Winston will meet with surgeon Neal S. ElAttrache around the end of next month. “End of June is when I’ll be fully cleared,” Winston announced. “Camp, I’ll be full go.” With Michael Thomas, Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry as top targets, Winston could supply some spot-start value this fall.

Saints QB Jameis Winston was a limited participant in OTAs this week, according to The Athletic's Katherine Terrell. Winston took part in individual drills, 7-on-7s and some 11-on-11s but was sporting a "bulky" brace and had a noticeable limp, per Terrell. Winston just resumed running earlier this month after last October's season-ending left knee injury. “The biggest thing about my specific injury was the meniscus,” Winston told reporters. Right now I’m building around and fighting with the meniscus.” The fact that Winston was on the field at all in May is a positive sign. We're expecting him to be under center for the Saints come Week 1.

New Saints HC Dennis Allen confirmed that QB Jameis Winston is on track to start Week 1. Recall that Winston suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 of last season. "Well, certainly that's certainly the plan," Allen said. "There's a lot of days between now and Week 1, but we certainly like where he's at right now. We like the progress that he's making. Man, I really loved a lot of the things that he did last year for us -- 14 touchdowns, three interceptions. There was just some really good stuff that you see. And my vision and my hope is that he continues to progress on the same level as he gets another year in the system." New Orleans passed on adding a QB in the draft. Instead, they bolstered the offense with WR Chris Olave and OT Trevor Penning. Winston, for now, profiles as a clear QB2 with spot-start potential.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Saints QB Jameis Winston is expected to be ready for training camp "if everything continues to go smoothly with his rehab." This doesn't come as a surprise after New Orleans committed to Winston financially earlier in the week, but it's good confirmation for those jumping into early best-ball fantasy football drafts.

NFL Network reports that QB Jameis Winston is re-signing with the Saints on a 2-year, $28 million deal that includes $21 million guaranteed. The money involved suggests New Orleans isn't too worried about the recovery of the ACL tear that ended Winston's 2021 on Halloween. It also obviously means that Winston will jump back into the starting lineup as soon as he's ready. Winston has been going in mid-to-low QB2 range in early best-ball drafting. The knee injury -- plus his general inconsistency -- will make it risky to draft Winston much higher than that, at least until he proves healthy.

An MRI on Saints QB Jameis Winston's left knee revealed a torn ACL and damage to his MCL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Winston will miss the rest of the 2021 season. Set to hit free agency in March, Winston will probably struggle to find a starting job while rehabbing that knee.

Saints QB Jameis Winston is believed to have a "torn ACL with MCL damage," according to NFL Network's Jane Slater and Ian Rapoport. If confirmed, Winston will miss the rest of the season. New Orleans is expected to get QB Taysom Hill back from his concussion this week, putting him in line to start vs. the Falcons on Sunday. We'll see if the team makes any other moves at QB.

Saints HC Sean Payton called QB Jameis Winston's knee injury "significant" after Sunday's win over the Bucs. Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Winston was taken to a local hospital during the game to get an MRI. We should get a more concrete diagnosis tomorrow. Florio also reports that QB Taysom Hill is expected to be cleared from his concussion this week. He figures to step in as New Orleans' starter -- and a fantasy factor -- in that case.

Saints QB Jameis Winston appeared to suffer a leg injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. the Bucs. He needed help getting off the field and was eventually carted to the locker room. Stay tuned for an update. With Taysom Hill still out with his concussion, QB Trevor Siemian is New Orleans' backup.

Update: Winston has a left knee injury and is questionable to return, the team announced.

Update: Winston has been ruled out.

Saints QB/TE Taysom Hill (concussion) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Seahawks. Hill has played 37% of New Orleans' offensive snaps this season -- 48 at WR, 27 at TE, 22 at QB and 12 in the backfield -- so it's a tangible loss for this offense. It's good news for QB Jameis Winston, though, who won't lose snaps to Hill this week.

QB Jameis Winston has been named the Saints' starter, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Winston and QB Taysom Hill seemed to play to a draw in training camp, but Winston won this job with his 123-yard, 2-TD performance in Monday night's preseason game vs. Jacksonville. Having Winston under center is good news for RB Alvin Kamara and New Orleans' WRs. But Winston himself isn't a very attractive fantasy option. He'll be working with an underwhelming group of pass catchers until WR Michael Thomas returns. And Hill still figures to steal snaps, especially in the red zone.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler confirms that Saints QB Jameis Winston "appears well-positioned to start opening day vs. Green Bay." HC Sean Payton has yet to officially name a starter, but it'd be a surprise if it wasn't Winston after his impressive showing in the 2nd preseason game. "Winston is receiving significant locker-room support this week for the Saints starting QB job, with many teammates treating him as if he is the starter or giving indications he will get the job," Fowler adds. If you're drafting this weekend, assume Winston is the Saints' starter. He's not an appealing fantasy option -- but Winston being under center is good news for RB Alvin Kamara and the rest of New Orleans' skill guys.
