The Chargers list LB Kenneth Murray Jr. (shoulder) as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Nick Niemann started in his place last week and delivered 11 tackles (6 solo, 1 for loss). He did so on just 68% playing time, though. So be careful about overrating Niemann for Week 18 IDP use -- especially against a very different version of the Chiefs offense than we usually see. Check our Week 18 LB rankings to see where Niemann lands.

Chargers LB Kenneth Murray is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Broncos with a shoulder injury. He's officially doubtful after following a limited Wednesday workout with two missed practices. This would be Murray's first missed game of the season, which makes it tough to know exactly what the fill-in plan looks like. We wouldn't play a Chargers LB beyond Eric Kendricks if you can help it.

Chargers LBs Eric Kendricks (ribs) and Kenneth Murray (shoulder) are active for tonight's game against the Jets. You can use either as planned in IDP lineups.

Chargers LBs Kenneth Murray and Eric Kendricks are both questionable for tonight's game against the Jets. Murray looks like the iffier of the two after sustaining a shoulder injury in Friday's practice that limited him Saturday. Kendricks is dealing with a rib injury that limited him Thursday and Friday. But he finished the week with a full Saturday workout. Nick Niemann would likely be the next LB up if either starter misses the game, with rookie Daiyan Henley at No. 4.

Chargers LB Kenneth Murray has looked like a bust through three NFL seasons, after the team drafted him in Round 1 in 2020. The Chargers declined the fifth-year option on Murray's rookie contract this April. But new DC Derrick Ansley is hopeful. “This is really going to be the year, I think, he can break out,” Ansley told The Athletic's Daniel Popper. New LBs coach Jeff Howard also made a point of connecting with Murray early, and they've made a point to simplify Murray's duties within the scheme. The LB, meanwhile, is coming off his first full, healthy offseason since entering the pros. That can only help. And veteran LB Eric Kendricks has reportedly mentored Murray since arriving as a free-agent this offseason. Murray should be so far down IDP draft boards -- likely even going undrafted in many leagues -- that he carries only upside as a fantasy prospect. We've added him to our IDP rankings after initially leaning toward rookie Daiyan Henley as the likely starter next to Kendricks.

The Chargers have agreed to a two-year, $13.25 million deal with LB Eric Kendricks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Vikings released Kendricks earlier this offseason to free up cap space. His arrival to L.A. comes with last year's lead LB, Drue Tranquill, still on the open market. So Kendricks looks like the best bet to lead the LB corps in 2023 playing time. There's still room for Tranquill to come back and play a significant role. If he doesn't and the Chargers don't make any other significant additions at off-ball LB, then Kenneth Murray could get one final starting shot in the fourth year of his rookie contract. We'd be quite surprised if L.A. picks up the fifth-year option on the highly disappointing former first-round pick. Expect Kendricks to land inside the top 30 when our 2023 IDP rankings drop.

The Chargers on Monday activated LB Kenneth Murray from the PUP list. He opened training camp there after having surgery in April on the injured ankle that ended his 2021 season. The former 1st-round pick is no lock to reclaim a staring job this season after struggling through his 1st year under HC Brandon Staley. Kyle Van Noy and Drue Tranquill have looked like the top 2 non-edge LBs for the Chargers.

Chargers LB Drue Tranquill has landed on the COVID list and will miss Sunday's game against the Vikings. His place in the lineup will be taken by Kenneth Murray, who returns from IR. Murray missed the past 5 games with an ankle injury. The Los Angeles Times reports that Murray is expected to be activated Saturday.

The Chargers on Monday placed LB Kenneth Murray on IR. He sustained an ankle injury in Saturday's practice that initially had him questionable for Monday night's game against the Raiders. The team then downgraded him to out on Sunday. Getting him on IR ahead of their Week 4 game starts the counter earlier for Murray to return, and we're guessing it'll be a short-term stay. That said, Murray was struggling before the injury. He's fine to drop for immediate help in most redraft IDP leagues.

Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Murray will "likely" be back after 3 games.

The Chargers have downgraded LB Kenneth Murray (ankle) to out or Monday night's game against the Raiders. Murray shouldn't have been in your IDP plans anyway, after playing just 51% of the snaps in Week 3. Kyzir White is the top option among Chargers LBs if you still have a spot to fill in your Week 4 lineup.

Chargers LB Kenneth Murray suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's practice and is questionable for Monday night's game against the Raiders. A healthy Murray played just 51% of the snaps in Week 3, so he should be easy to leave out of your Week 4 IDP lineup. Kyzir White becomes a better play, after leading Chargers LBs in snaps last week.
