Vince Young, QB, Eagles

Wanna raise a few eyebrows – and piss of the Michael Vick owner in your league? Grab VY near the end of your draft. Sure, he’s a pure backup. But the guy ahead of him on the depth chart is a 31-year-old kamikaze who has played just 1 full 16-game season in his 8-year career. We like Young’s odds of getting at least a couple starts this season. And on a pass-happy Eagles offense with one of the most impressive groups of skill-position players in the league, that gives Young significant upside. Now, VY left the team's preseason finale with a hamstring injury. But he was laughing on the sidelines later in the game, and HC Andy Reid said afterwards that Young "should be ok" for Week 1. The good news is that Young was ultra-impressive in that final exhibition. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 193 yards and a score. After struggling in the first 2 preseason games, VY completed 69% of his passes in the final 2. He’s still learning OC Marty Mornhinweg’s offense, but he should be comfortable by the time he’s called on this year. Young could easily post top-10 numbers in a few individual weeks this season. You don’t want him as your QB2, but if your rosters go deep enough, he’s a crafty QB3 addition. You’d be hard-pressed to find a guy with more upside so late in your draft.
