Kuechly cleared to return

The Panthers announced Friday that MLB Luke Kuechly has cleared the league concussion protocol. They still listed him as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, but full practices all week and Friday's clearance point to Kuechly returning after missing last week's loss at Chicago.

The concussion that was then wasn't then was will keep Panthers MLB Luke Kuechly out for Sunday's game against the Bears. He hasn't returned to action since leaving last Thursday night's loss to the Eagles early. Kuechly missed 3 games with a concussion in 2015 and then the final 6 contests last year. We'll see how long this one persists.

Panthers MLB Luke Kuechly entered the concussion protocol after leaving Thursday night's loss to the Eagles early. The situation didn't mirror the dramatic scene of 2016, when a tearful Kuechly left the field concussed before missing the final 6 weeks. This time, Kuechly took a jolt from Eagles G Brandon Brooks but never hit his head on the ground and jogged to the locker room for examination. Still, it's a concerning development for a player who lost 9 total games to concussions over the past 2 seasons. Carolina at least has 10 days off now before its next game.
