The Patriots placed Edge Harold Landry on the physically unable to perform list for the start of training camp. It's not a surprise after Landry sat out spring workouts while working back from post-season knee surgery. He suffered the injury in October but played through it the rest of the way and delayed surgery until February, after the Super Bowl.
Patriots Rule Out Robert Spillane, Other Defensive Starters
The Patriots have ruled LB Robert Spillane, Edge Harold Landry, and DL Milton Williams out for Sunday's game against the Jets. It'll be the third straight missed game for Spillane, who also went inactive with his sprained ankle last week after being activated in an "emergency" role the game before. Landry missed practice all week with a knee injury. Williams is working back from an ankle injury that landed him on IR. He put in limited practices this week, but the team clearly deemed him not ready yet -- perhaps motivated in part by the matchup with a lifeless Jets squad.
Landry tears ACL
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Titans EDGE Harold Landry suffered an ACL tear in Wednesday's practice. That would obviously end the season for Tennessee's top pass-rusher, an especially big blow for that defense. Landry had ranked inside the top 10 D-linemen in our IDP rankings, where he carries that designation.
