Harold Landry Headshot

The Patriots placed Edge Harold Landry on the physically unable to perform list for the start of training camp. It's not a surprise after Landry sat out spring workouts while working back from post-season knee surgery. He suffered the injury in October but played through it the rest of the way and delayed surgery until February, after the Super Bowl.

What They're Saying: Coach Isn't Worried

HC Mike Vrabel, during June minicamp: "This is all part of everyone has a little different plan. He is very involved, very heavily involved in the meetings and the workouts and in a leadership role. For him to take reps right now in the spring, I feel like is unnecessary. We will just keep working to make sure that he is ready to go when we need him."

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Surgery Could Repair Landry's Impact

According to The Athletic's Chad Graff, Landry's pressure rate dipped from 16.2% over the first five weeks to 10.9% afterward. He still led the team with 8.5 sacks for the season.

New England did add some edge players this offseason, but nothing to signal they're freaking out about Landry's status.

The team signed Dre'Mont Jones in free agency and drafted Gabe Jacas in the second round. We'll see how quickly Jacas progresses, and he finished college with an encouraging stat line that included 19 sacks and 26.5 tackles for loss over his final two campaigns.

The Pats needed reinforcements, though, after three straight seasons of 36 sacks or fewer.

Landry can be activated at any point during training camp. We'll see how soon that happens and adjust his projection if needed.
