The Cowboys are releasing K Brett Maher, but Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports that the expect to re-sign him pretty quickly. The move is reportedly being made to allow for other roster moves in setting the initial 53-man roster. So Maher still looks like Dallas' Week 1 kicker.
Cowboys roll with Maher
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that kicker Brett Maher has won the team’s starting job. McCarthy pointed out Maher’s leg strength and recent confidence as reasons for choosing him over Lirim Hajrullahu. Maher figures to be a viable streaming option this season.
Cowboys make move at kicker
The Cowboys released K Jonathan Garibay and signed K Brett Maher on Tuesday. Garibay had reportedly struggled mightily in camp. Maher and K Lirim Hajrullahu will duke it out for the starting job over the next month. It's a situation to avoid in fantasy drafts until we get a winner.
Johnson out, Maher in for Saints
The Saints cut K Brian Johnson and signed K Brett Maher. Maher isn't a viable Week 11 fantasy play with the Saints missing RB Alvin Kamara and both OTs.
