Bottom Line

At 22, Hall carries the type of youth we look for in a fantasy RB.

Now further removed from his ACL tear, there’s reason to believe he’ll build off a strong 2023.

Hall’s ceiling likely comes down to whether Aaron Rodgers stays healthy. But at least ahead of training camp, injury news on the future Hall of Famer has been all positive.

Consider the Jets’ workhorse a viable pick come mid- Round 1.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Hall returned for Week 1 of 2023, about 11 months after suffering an ACL tear.
    • He came off the PUP list on August 15, so he didn’t get a full training camp.
  • Despite the rehab-filled offseason, Hall excelled in 2023.
    • He ranked 6th in PPR points per game, boosted by league-leading totals in targets (95), catches (76), and receiving yards (591).
    • Hall finished as a top-6 PPR back six times. He slotted outside the top 30 only three times.
    • Among 25 RBs with 200+ carries, Hall ranked T-8th in YPC, 2nd in yards after contact per attempt, and 3rd in Pro Football Focus' Elusive Rating.
    • Among 47 qualifiers, Hall ranked sixth in rush yards over expected per attempt (per Next Gen Stats).
    • Hall played all 17 games and twice topped 30 touches.
  • The young RB overcame an O-line that finished 29th in run-block win rate.
  • Hall also overcame the Week 1 loss of Aaron Rodgers.
    • Zach Wilson started most games and predictably struggled.
    • Overall, the Jets ranked 31st in total yards; 29th in points per game.

What to Expect in 2024

  • Hall will be over 20 months removed from his ACL tear come Week 1.
    • With the benefit of a full offseason, it’s possible we see him hit another level in ‘24.
  • An upgraded supporting cast certainly helps.
    • Aaron Rodgers is on schedule to be 100% healthy for Week 1.
    • The Jets bolstered the WR corps with veteran Mike Williams, who’s coming off his own ACL tear. He’ll add a downfield/red zone weapon if healthy.
    • Round 3 pick Malachi Corley adds a run-after-catch and motion element to the offense.
  • Morgan Moses, Tyron Smith, and Olu Fashanu add talent at OT.
    • Moses and Smith are durability risks at 33, but Fashanu arrives in Round 1 as valuable insurance.
  • The Jets added two RBs in the draft: Braelon Allen (Round 4) and Isaiah Davis (Round 5).
    • Consider it a signal that the team isn’t committed to 2nd-year RB Israel Abanikanda.

Zach Wilson out for Week 18

Jets QB Zach Wilson (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. QB Trevor Siemian will presumably close out this Jets season that was doomed when QB Aaron Rodgers went down in the opener. Siemian isn't a fantasy option but has at least been peppering RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson with targets.
