Bryce Young, QB CAR

10:08am EST 11/27/23

Panthers fire Frank Reich

The Panthers fired HC Frank Reich. He didn't even make it a full season in Carolina, going 1-10 in his 11 games. An offensive-minded coach, Reich's Panthers offense sits 30th in yards per game, 29th in points per game, and 31st in offensive DVOA. A poor group of skill-position players didn't help the cause, but Reich did very little to elevate the offense or rookie QB Bryce Young. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will finish out the season as interim HC, while OC Thomas Brown takes back over as play-caller. We'll see if the moves lead to any changes in player usage, but don't expect the offense to be noticeably better.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys. Chark has been a full-time player when healthy this season but is averaging just 33 yards per game.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Cowboys but would be a weak fantasy play. Chark has topped 42 yards in a game just once all season.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Bears. That leaves Terrace Marshall as the No. 3 WR behind Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo. Marshall is certainly in play in one-game DFS contests but would be a desperation season-long fantasy start.

Panthers WR D.J. Chark (elbow) missed practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Thursday night's game vs. the Bears. His absence should elevate WR Terrace Marshall into a top-3 role. When Chark missed Week 1, Marshall ran a route on 96% of Carolina's pass plays and drew six targets for a 15.8% share. He turned that action into just two catches for 23 yards, though, and is really only in play in one-game DFS contests. Chark's absence could mean an extra target or two for WRs Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo.

Chark posted an uninspiring 35-525-5 line in 2023. As of April, he remains a free agent — and an unlikely fantasy contributor.
