Basic Stats Full Player Fantasy Analysis

What You Need to Know:

  • Singletary played all 16 games in 2020. Yet he finished just 32nd in PPR points among RBs. Including the postseason (19 games), he fell shy of 10 PPR points 12 times.
  • A pass-first Buffalo offense finished near the bottom of the league with only ~18 RB carries per game.
  • In 3 regular season games without Zack Moss, Singletary totaled 52 touches (17.3 per game).
  • Singletary tallied a Pro Football Focus Elusive Rating of 68.8 — 11th among 47 RBs with 100+ attempts.
  • A lack of goal line attempts have limited Singletary (5’7, 203) to 4 career rushing TDs on 307 attempts. Singletary saw only 8 goal line opportunities in 2020.
  • Expect Zack Moss and Josh Allen to remain the primary rushers near the end zone.
  • The Bills passed on drafting a RB in the 2021 draft, signaling confidence in the current 1-2 punch. Buffalo did add Matt Breida early in free agency. He’s a long-shot to have a major role after disappointing with Miami in 2020.

Draft Sharks Bottom Line:

After spending a Round 3 pick on Singletary in 2019, the Bills invested another 3rd rounder on Zack Moss last spring. Singletary lacks the size for high volume rush attempts — or the scoring upside you like given the presence of Moss and Josh Allen. A loaded Buffalo pass catching corps caps Singletary’s receiving upside, too.

There’s certainly RB2 upside here if Moss goes down again. Just note: In 13 healthy games together last year, Singletary averaged 8 touches per outing. He’ll be more of a PPR FLEX, barring injury.

Bills RB Devin Singletary got the start in Saturday's preseason finale and played all 12 snaps on the 1st possession. RB Zack Moss ended up leading the backfield with 16 snaps with QB Josh Allen, though. Singletary played 15 and RB Matt Breida 7. Breida, interestingly, played 6 of those 7 snaps in the slot or split out wide. This is looking like at least a 2-man, and potentially a 3-man committee heading into Week 1.

Bills RB Devin Singletary played all 10 snaps on the team’s 1st possession of Saturday's preseason game vs. the Bears. He ended up out-snapping RB Zack Moss 21 to 12 with what amounted to the 1st-team offense. Singletary took 2 carries for 21 yards, highlighted by this impressive TD. Moss finished with 4 carries for 21 yards. It’s possible that Buffalo wanted to limit Moss’ snaps after he missed a few days with a hamstring injury in mid-August. But it’s also possible that Singletary opens the season as the lead back. We've adjusted our projections for the Bills backfield.

Bills WR Cole Beasley, WR John Brown, RB Devin Singletary and TE Dawson Knox are all inactive for today’s game against the Jets. Don’t expect to see much of QB Josh Allen or RB Frank Gore. Top CB Tre’Davious White is also inactive for Buffalo.

Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) practiced in full all week and isn’t listed on the final injury report. We’re expecting him to return to a change-of-pace role behind Frank Gore for now. But Sunday’s plum matchup vs. Miami puts Singletary in the RB3 discussion.

Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) will be a full-go in Wednesday's practice, HC Sean McDermott said. Barring a setback, the rookie will return for Week 7. Singletary garnered 10 carries and 6 targets over the season's first 2 weeks, and we're expecting him to return to a similar role behind Frank Gore. Still, Singletary has some RB3 appeal in a pristine matchup against the Dolphins.
