Week 6
Facing the high-octane Chargers offense with an elite QB seemed like a massive undertaking, even when playing this one in Baltimore. They schemed up enough pressure to keep Justin Herbert off balance and didn’t allow him to get too comfortable throwing downfield. They also went against typical norms by traveling Marlon Humphrey on Mike WIlliams, though Williams played just 36% of the snaps while dealing with knee swelling. Despite playing with the lead the entire way, they only came up with 2 sacks. And one of the sacks was by DeShon Elliott, who also had the only INT of the day. Overall, the best thing the defense did was hold LA to just 6 points.

Despite the great reputation this defense has had over the years, this hasn’t been a high-performing unit this season. They came into this game averaging just 1 takeaway and 2.5 sacks, and their usual pressure schemes haven’t been creating the issues for opposing QBs that they have in past years. They’re also in the middle-of-the-pack in terms of points allowed, and they’re vulnerable to giving up big points to the better offenses in the league. They should be viewed as a streaming unit, and aren’t worth hanging onto as an every-week option.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey (knee), S Chuck Clark (hip) and CB Anthony Averett (ankle) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Averett's injury popped up Thursday and kept him out of Friday's practice. Clark didn't appear on the injury report until a limited Friday practice. Humphrey also showed up only on Friday, and even then as a full participant. The team website reports that he's expected to play.

Baltimore on Friday placed 4 front-7 players on the COVID list, meaning they'll all miss at least Sunday's game in Detroit. The players are DTs Brandon Williams and Justin Madubuike, and EDGE defenders Justin Houston and Jaylon Ferguson. None makes a huge fantasy difference for either IDP usage or the Baltimore team defense's upside, but their absences certainly soften the matchup for Detroit's offense. Losing Brandon Williams, in particular, weakens the Ravens' run D -- a help for Lions RBs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey (shoulder) and OLB Yannick Ngakoue (thigh) are active for today's game against the Titans. CB Jimmy Smith is also active for the 1st time since Week 14. Smith hasn't played more than half the snaps in a game since Week 9. A healthier Baltimore defense is obviously bad news for Tennessee's offense, though this game still carries plenty of shootout potential. The 54-point over/under comes in 3.5 points higher than any other game on the slate.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey (shoulder) and OLB Yannick Ngakoue (thigh) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. Humphrey played through the issue last week and made it through a full practice Friday. So he should be good to go. Ngakoue also progressed from missing practice all last week and then sitting out the game to participating every day this week and finishing with a full Friday workout. So he appears on track to return. We'll check the status of both on Sunday.
