Rest Of Way Outlook

Week 12
Johnson played more pass snaps than any other Jets RB in Sunday’s win over the Texans, but that’s about the only good thing we can say for his Week 12.

Johnson trailed not only Tevin Coleman in carries (16-6), but also fell behind practice-squad call-up Austin Walter (9 carries). Walter entered Sunday with 2 previous NFL touches -- as a 2020 Niner. Walter operated as the team’s lead RB in the red zone, drawing carries on 3 of 4 trips to that range.

Even in his role as “lead” passing-down back, Johnson garnered just 1 target vs. Walter’s 1 and Coleman’s 3.

We’ll see whether anything changes over the next 2 games that Michael Carter must miss after landing on IR. But there’s no reason to believe Johnson will help your fantasy team in Week 13 against the Eagles. He’s not a player you need to hold.
Week 11
Johnson touched the ball only twice on Sunday. But he gets a mention following an ankle injury that knocked Michael Carter out of Week 11. Tevin Coleman played ahead of Johnson, but the latter would carry pass-catching upside if Carter misses future games. Johnson totaled 24 targets in his past 4 games entering Sunday. Next up for the Jets is a road matchup at Houston.
Week 5
Johnson popped a TD in for the Jets and finished with 34 scrimmage yards in the loss in London. His 6 touches ranked 2nd on the team behind rookie RB Michael Carter (13), but the Jets went to Johnson inside the red zone, giving him back-to-back carries inside the 5.

Johnson is caught in a crowded backfield on a terrible team that will not be running the ball enough for him to have solid value, but it’s nice to see him get the looks inside the 10. While Carter may be the starter, Johnson appears to be the next man up to get touches.

The Jets have a bye in Week 6.
Week 1
The Jets backfield is a fantasy mess. Tevin Coleman led the way with 9 carries in the opener, while Johnson and rookie Michael Carter each toted it 4 times. Johnson led the way with 3 targets to Carter’s 2 and Coleman’s 0. None of them topped 26 total yards.

Johnson topped the group with 35 snaps and 20 pass routes. But that was still just a 54% snap rate and 43% route rate -- not nearly enough to make him a fantasy option.

This will continue to be a 3-man committee on a struggling offense. None of the Jets RBs should be in fantasy lineups. And none of them are must-holds on fantasy rosters.

Andy Vasquez of NorthJersey.com projects RB Ty Johnson as a cut in his admittedly "far too early" 53-player roster projection. "[Tevin] Coleman will likely get the majority of the snaps, but there will be plenty of opportunities for [Michael] Carter and another young back," Vasquez writes. "[Josh] Adams, [La'Mical] Perine and Johnson will battle for the final two spots at this position." We're not particularly excited about any player in what figures to line up as a committee but will be tracking the competition through summer.

Lions RB Ty Johnson (concussion) is active for today’s game against the Cowboys. He figures to stay in the lead-back role but is a low-upside RB3 in fantasy lineups.

Lions RB Ty Johnson has cleared the concussion protocol, according to multiple reports. The team has removed him from the injury report, clearing the way for Johnson to play against the Cowboys. That means he and J.D. McKissic will split touches, and that neither is likely to help your fantasy football lineup much

Lions RB Ty Johnson (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Cowboys. He put in a full practice on Friday, though, so he’s trending toward getting cleared by Sunday. Johnson’s presence would take RB J.D. McKissic out of fantasy consideration.

Lions RB Ty Johnson (concussion) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That gives him a shot to get cleared in time for this weekend's game against the Cowboys. We'll get another update on his progress tomorrow.
