Colts QB Riley Leonard entered the game against the Jaguars in relief of Daniel Jones after he tore his Achilles. HC Shane Steichen revealed that Leonard himself is dealing with a knee injury making his status for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks uncertain. Steichen also commented that QB Anthony Richardson would not be activated this week, so practice squad QB Brett Rypien could become the Colts’ starter.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Colts QB Riley Leonard also is dealing with a knee injury that leaves his status for Sunday’s game at Seattle uncertain."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Leonard struggled after entering the game against the Jaguars, going 18 of 29 for 145 yards and an interception. Despite the struggles, he appears to be the Colts best option at QB going forward. With Richardson will stay on IR with an orbital bone injury he suffered in warm-ups earlier this season, Leonard is next in line.
This knee injury complicates his status.
The Colts only other rostered QB is Brett Rypien on the practice squad. He likely will be called up soon, regardless of Leonard’s status.
The team may add a QB in free agency. Former Colt Sam Ehlinger remains available or journeymen like Taylor Heinicke or Dorian Thompson-Robinson could be potential options. If Leonard is out, the Colts will at least need a back-up to Rypien.
We will keep an eye on Leonard’s status throughout the week. No matter if he starts or another QB fills in, the entire Colts offense remains uncertain for the fantasy playoffs.
