Former Ravens OC Todd Monken was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Monken has been with the Ravens since 2023, serving as the team’s offensive coordinator under QB Lamar Jackson. He was also a member of the Browns’ staff in 2019, working as offensive coordinator under HC Freddie Kitchens.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: “ESPN Sources: the Cleveland Browns are hiring former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as their next head coach. Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz still is under contract to Cleveland and the team wants him to stay.
Fantasy Football Impact
Monken does have head coaching experience at the college level, leading Southern Miss from 2013 to 2015. He also has offensive coordinator experience with three different NFL teams, including the Buccaneers.
He will be tasked with rebuilding a struggling Browns offense. Young weapons like TE Harold Fannin Jr. and RB Quinshon Judkins should help. Given Monken’s history of utilizing TEs Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, this could be good news for Fannin's fantasy upside.
The offense can't get much worse, but the QB decision will be central for Monken at the start of his tenure. The Browns could go out and sign or draft a QB, but they will likely have to pick one on the roster to start the year. "Pro Bowl" QB Shedeur Sanders will be entering his second year along with Dillon Gabriel. Deshaun Watson also looms and should be healthy enough to return.
