Chiefs WR Cyrus Allen did some work with the first team offense in training camp yesterday. The fifth-round rookie drew praise from Andy Reid according to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports. Reid said that Allen had a good day and Mahomes has some trust in Allen. Goldman also reported second-year WR Jalen Royals struggled, which could create an opening for Allen to pass him if that continues.

Andy Reid: “Yeah, so Cyrus (Allen) had a good day today. And I think Pat’s (Mahomes) got some trust there. We’ve got a long way to go, but we’ve just got to keep going, keep growing.”
Charles Goldman, A to Z: “Second-year WR Jalen Royals seemed to have a bit of the yips during his first day. He had a few drops. He also didn’t secure a ball that ultimately would’ve been called a fumble. It seemed like he simply wasn’t on the same page with his quarterback to start off.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Redraft Value Is Minimal
Allen has no current redraft value. He would have a long climb to instant contributions even if Allen has the trust of Mahomes and could earn some playing time. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy have the top two WR spots locked down while veteran Tyquan Thornton will likely serve as the team’s No. 3 WR.
Continued buzz about Allen throughout camp and into the preseason, especially with more consistent work with the first team, could make him a deep league dart throw.

Dynasty Impact: Deeper-League Trade Target
The real impact for Allen could be in dynasty rankings. Allen was a late-round rookie pick (if drafted at all). Positive news about his relationship with Mahomes could shoot Allen up dynasty rankings and make him a potential trade target in deeper dynasty leagues.
