Jermaine Gresham Injury Updates

Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham is questionable for Monday night's game with a rib injury. Gresham missed Week 2 with the ailment but put in limited practices all week. He's not worth waiting for in any but the deepest of fantasy football leagues this time around.

Cardinals TEs Jermaine Gresham (back) and Troy Niklas (ankle) have been activated for training camp.  The duo figures to share receiving duties in an offense that's averaged just 92.5 TE targets in HC Bruce Arians' first 2 seasons.  Gresham and Niklas will likely need an injury to the other to provide any fantasy value.  And even then, they'd be just low-upside spot starters.

The Cardinals placed TE Jermaine Gresham on the PUP Wednesday, a day after signing the free agent. Gresham had back surgery in March. He can come off the list whenever he's ready, though staying on into the regular season would cost at least 6 games. TE Troy Niklas also landed on the active/non-football injury list with hamstring trouble. That follows a right ankle issue that cost him the final day of minicamp this spring and offseason surgery on the left ankle that "removed a tightrope," according to Bottom line for fantasy owners: Don't draft a Cardinals TE.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert injured his elbow in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Ravens.  He was in obvious pain and wasn't moving the arm as he made his way to the locker room.  We'll update his status when we learn more, but this has the look of a serious injury.  An extended absence for Eifert would put TE Jermaine Gresham on the spot-start radar.

Bengals TEs Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert have been sidelined in OTAs.  Gresham's ailment is undisclosed.  Eifert is dealing with a shoulder injury.  "It's more of a feel thing," he said. "It's not a serious injury."  HC Marvin Lewis expects both guys to be ready for training camp.  We'll keep an eye on their statuses.  As long as Gresham and Eifert are both on the field, both will struggle for reliable fantasy value.  The absence of either would make the other at least a high-end TE2.

Bengals TEs Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert both sat out Tuesday's practice.  Eifert suffered a stinger in Sunday's win over the Vikings.  The team provided no official report on Gresham's injury, but he entered Week 16 "probable" with an abdominal issue.  We'll see what happens later in the practice week, but expect him to play against the Ravens on Sunday.

After being limited on Wednesday, Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (groin) did not practice at all on Thursday.  It looks like he got hurt in Wednesday's practice.  Gresham seems extremely iffy for this weekend's game against the Ravens.  Rookie Tyler Eifert would get a nice bump in value if Gresham can't go.

After being limited on Wednesday, Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) was held out altogether on Thursday.  We don't have details, but the tea leaves suggest he injured that hammy during Wednesday's practice.  That puts his status in doubt for this weekend's game against the Cowboys.  Check back tomorrow for another update.

Although he's yet to return to the practice field, Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (knee) is expected to be ready for the team's Monday night season opener on September 10th.  Gresham is dealing with a minor knee sprain and is being treated cautiously.  He's part of a deep group of low-end TE1 candidates.  The knee injury makes us rather target guys like Brent Celek, Kyle Rudolph, and Greg Olsen in that range.

The Bengals are calling the knee injury TE Jermaine Gresham suffered in Thursday night's game against the Falcons a sprain.  That's not a very specific diagnosis, so it's tough to say how long Gresham will be sidelined.  We're still 3 weeks away from the season-opener, and we're tentatively expecting Gresham to be ready for that one.  We're not lowering his projections, but keep this injury in mind when considering him as a low-end fantasy starter.

Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham was forced from Thursday night's preseason game with a knee injury. He limped off the field but was walking around on the sidelines later on. Gresham has a history of knee problems. He tore his left ACL in high school and missed the entire 2009 season at Oklahoma with a knee injury. The fact that the team allowed him back on the sidelines last night is good news, but we'll pass along an update when we get one.

Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) was unable to practice on Wednesday.  He suffered the injury last Friday and didn't play on Sunday.  His status for this weekend's game against the Titans is very much up in the air.

3:05pm EDT 10/30/11

Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) is inactive for today's game against the Seahawks.  He was added to the injury report on Friday after suffering the injury in practice.  TE Donald Lee will start in his place but isn't a fantasy option.

Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham was added to the injury report on Friday with a hamstring.  He's listed as probable, though, so he should be fine for this weekend's game against the Seahawks.  We won't know his official status until about 3 pm ET on Sunday, but we'd feel comfortable getting Gresham into fantasy lineups.
