Baker Mayfield Headshot

The Buccaneers on Tuesday announced a three-year extension with QB Baker Mayfield.

What They're Saying

ESPN's Dan Graziano: "According to a source, Baker Mayfield's new contract with the Bucs includes $110 million in new guarantees on top of the $40 million he was already scheduled to earn this year. So $150 million in guarantees total. Now signed through 2029."

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: No Upgrade for Decent QB

The two sides were reportedly close entering camp but broke off talks then. Bridging the gap is obviously good news for the situation, but the impasse wasn't challenging Mayfield's season start anyway.

The new pact will carry Mayfield through his age-34 season, meaning he'll also be around through WR Emeka Egbuka's rookie contract.

Mayfield dipped from a top-5 fantasy season in 2024 to QB18 in points per game last year. That mark landed much closer to his career norm than 2024 did, however.

Mayfield's not likely to turn into a perennial top-12 guy. Expect him to remain a useful QB2 and/or platoon option in fantasy.
