2026 Fantasy Football Impact
According to Jordan Zirm of The Away Team Browns podcast, Watson posted just a 3.6-yard average depth of target. Combine that with his 9.9 yards per attempt, and it's clear that Cleveland relied heavily on after-catch production.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, but that production will be more difficult to sustain than if the Browns were hitting passes further downfield.
Watson might have been playing for his job Sunday, with Cleveland set for a Week 3 home opener and Monken not committing to a starter for that game ahead of Sunday's contest.
Keeping his starting job doesn't yet make Watson an attractive fantasy play, but he will get a positive matchup with the Panthers in Week 3. That puts him in play for superflex lineups at least. And his solid play at Tampa Bay supported lines of 5+ catches for four teammates:
- KC Concepcion
- Denzel Boston
- Harold Fannin Jr.
- Quinshon Judkins
That's the key here. We just want Cleveland QBs to do enough to make a few pass catchers viable. Expect several of the players listed above to be startable against Carolina in Week 3.
