The Dolphins have lost RB De'Von Achane for the season after he tore his left ACL in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Ollie Gordon stepped in to play 61 snaps against Kansas City after Achane lasted just four snaps. RB Jaylen Wright was inactive with a pair of injuries.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Miami's Only Asset is Gone
We'll see about Wright's health for a Week 4 visit to Minnesota. Expect him and Gordon to share time in the wake of the Achane loss, though, whenever Wright's ready.
Each took turns playing more than the other in 2025, with Gordon running ahead of Wright after the latter opened the season injured. Wright led the duo in playing time late in the year.
Gordon outweighs Wright by 20 pounds, while Wright presents 97th-percentile speed. That gives them complementary skill sets in an offense that desperately needs help.
There's no other RB on the active roster, while Jarquez Hunter and Carlos Washington sit on the practice squad. Expect at least one of those guys to get elevated for Week 4 (and perhaps beyond). Miami also might look to bring in another RB.
Don't be surprised if WR Malik Washington factors into the run game more as well. He has 25 career rushes vs. 84 receptions since entering the league in 2024.
Waiver Wire Targets: You Might Wanna Go Sneaky
Gordon and Wright should both be in consideration this week, though they won't make sense for leagues of all sizes. Keep in mind that even Achane was averaging just 3.5 yards per carry through two weeks and didn't reach 100 total yards in a game before going down.

Washington might be the best value among the three at expected bid rates. In addition to some potential rushing boost, he'll get even more important as a short-range receiver. Neither Wright nor Gordon comes close to matching Achane in that area.

Dynasty Impact: Just Be Careful
Achane just signed an extension in May that puts him under contract with Miami through 2030, his age-29 season.
ACL injuries aren't as devastating (beyond the current season) as they once were, so don't panic-sell Achane in dynasty if another manager sends an offer.
Things look bleak in Miami right now, but the roster could look dramatically different by the start of next year. And the early-season timing of Achane's injury helps his chances of getting back to full strength ahead of the 2027 campaign.
That said, we're talking about a diminutive NFL RB who relies heavily on his speed and quickness. So there might be opportunities where selling Achane makes sense, assuming the offer's strong enough. Use our Trade Value Charts and Trade Navigator to help assess any such situations.
If you're on the other side and considering buying Achane, I'd proceed with caution, needing a truly attractive opportunity to make such a move.
Although the Miami offense might look significantly different by next year ... it also might not. And we won't really know until next summer how much we can expect from 2027 Achane.
