Jalen Hurts Headshot

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will miss Sunday's game against the Panthers because of a blood clot in his calf. The injury originated in the Week 4 loss to the Rams, and the team says the blood clot was found via ultrasound ahead of last Sunday's game in London.

What They're Saying

Team statement: "Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.

"On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority."

2026 Fantasy Football Impact

Hurts has struggled to three straight fantasy finishes outside his position's top 20, so this shouldn't affect nearly as many lineups as we'd have expected entering the season.

Expect Philly to turn to Tanner McKee after dumping Andy Dalton earlier this season.

McKee started Week 18 each of the past two seasons, with the Eagles resting starters ahead of the playoffs. His passing numbers for those games:

Season Opp Comp/Att YardsTDINT
2024 Giants 27/41 26920
2025 Commanders 21/40 24111

We obviously can't expect too much from McKee in his first exposure within a Sean Mannion scheme that hasn't looked good through five weeks. But McKee's in his fourth season with the Eagles and should at least offer serviceable passing.

He gets a solid matchup with a Carolina defense that ranks 21st in total DVOA and 18th against the pass.

Downgrade the Eagles pass catchers you were considering slightly, but don't shift them completely from starter to unusable.

We'll watch for updates on Hurts' outlook beyond Week 6.
