Jalen Hurts Headshot

ESPN reports that the Eagles have "not even discussed the possibility of injured reserve" for QB Jalen Hurts as he deals with a superficial blood clot.

What They're Saying: IR Still Possible

Report: "Hurts and the Eagles are still gathering more information and seeking additional medical opinions, with the quarterback's health the foremost consideration. They believe the blood clot is treatable, with Hurts trying to determine the best course, sources said. The ultimate decision about when Hurts will play will come from his medical team, and the Eagles are ready to follow his lead. There is still a chance Hurts eventually ends up on injured reserve, if that is the direction the medical information leads them."

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Lack of Clarity Challenges Decisions

As the end of that passage indicates, we don't yet know whether the Eagles QB will land on IR. That it's apparently not happening before Sunday's game against Carolina, though, points to at least a chance that Hurts can return within the next four games.

Blood clots are most commonly treated with blood-thinning medication, though. And the ESPN report calls six weeks "the minimum time frame for a moderate dose" of such medication. Two unnamed team doctors reportedly said Hurts' timeline "could be six weeks."

There's obviously nothing we can do but wait for more info at this point. An IR designation would probably be better for fantasy purposes, so that you could stash Hurts in an IR spot where possible.

As it is, the combo of Hurts' uncertain outlook and disappointing production to this point leaves lots of room for varying fantasy treatments of the QB. Make sure you consider all the specifics of your situation as you decide how to proceed.
