Ashton Jeanty Headshot

Here's the good news from Week 7: Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty gave you a nice PPR score. He ranks sixth at the position in points ahead of the Monday night game. The bad news? He barely did anything on the ground, against a Rams D that was missing two starting DTs and its lead LB. Jeanty rushed eight times for just 15 yards in the lopsided loss, adding 8 catches for 61 yards and a TD on 8 targets.

What Do You Call a Running Back Who Can't Run?

This marked the third straight game in which Jeanty carried 10 times or fewer. it was also the third straight game -- and fifth among the past six -- in which he averaged less than 3.0 yards per rush.

Jeanty's 1.9 vs. the Rams set a new low for this season and marked the second-lowest rushing average of his young career.

His 8 catches marked a season high, while the RB has garnered 6+ targets in all but Week 3. He leads the position in targets, sits tied with Christian McCaffrey for the reception lead, and has tallied 18 more receiving yards than any other RB.

Jeanty also trails only Brock Bowers and Tre Tucker among Raiders in targets, while averaging a strong 9.2 yards per catch. So there's certainly room for Jeanty's receiving to continue driving his fantasy scoring.

It'll probably need to, as his carry share has dipped below 60% each of the past four weeks, after sitting at 67.7% through the first three games.

Backup Could Become a Problem

Mike Washington has finished the past two games within 2 carries of Jeanty's total, collecting 15 to Jeanty's 18 over that span and 4.7 yards per rush to Jeanty's 2.1.

That discrepancy should increase the chances that Washington continues to cut into the starter's rushing opportunities. We'll see whether that split starts to impact the receiving volume.

That could become more of an issue in closer contests.

The Raiders should find a more competitive game at the Jets in Week 8 before potentially dangerous clashes at the 49ers and home for the Seahawks the following two weeks.
