Jake Ferguson finished a game with 0 receptions for the first time since his rookie season in 2022. He accounted for just 1 target as his route share fell below 60% for a consecutive week. It also now marks back-to-back games that he’s been out-scored by fellow TE Brevyn Spann-Ford.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Route Share in Retreat
He posted a season-high 73.3% route share in Week 5 before his opportunity decline began.
Ferguson’s decrease in route share can be traced back to Week 5 against the Buccaneers when he produced a season-low 50% catch rate that included a drop off his helmet resulting in the game-losing INT.
After that, he was left with just a 52.4% route share in Week 6 before his most recent 57.1% route share against the Eagles in Week 7. His 53.6% route share over the past two weeks ranks 31st among all TEs.
He’s commanding a 36th-ranked 13.6% targets per route on the season, which, combined with low-volume participation, is resulting in a TE26 ranking with 7.4 PPR points per game that’s continuing to drop.
TE Spann-Ford producing more points while running less routes also doesn't bode well for Ferguson's usage ticking back up.
He'll look to rebound facing a Cardinals defense that's allowing the fifth-most points to TEs. But his rebound will be more determined by the Cowboys' willingness to involve him closer to his route share from a couple of weeks ago.
