Washington is releasing RB Bryce Love, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Love simply hasn't been able to recover from a significant ACL tear in December 2018. He's suffered multiple setbacks and has yet to hit the field since going in the 4th round of the 2019 draft. Love is still just 23 but is looking like a long shot for fantasy value. We'll see where he lands.

Redskins RB Bryce Love has been placed on IR due to swelling in his knee. That knocks him out for at least the next 3 games. HC Ron Rivera said he's still hoping Love plays this season, but he's not worth clinging to in redraft fantasy leagues.

Washington has released RB Adrian Peterson. It’s a surprising move after the future Hall-of-Famer ran with the 1st-team offense all summer. Running alongside Peterson with the starters was rookie Antonio Gibson, who now looks like the clear favorite to lead Washington’s RBs in touches this season. Peterson’s release also makes RB Bryce Love a more intriguing late-round fantasy pick. Check out the updated projections for Washington's backfield.

The Athletic's Ben Standig writes that Washington RB Bryce Love "isn’t a threat for work initially." Love's camp got off to a buzzy start, but he's been quiet lately. "He is still shaking off the rust after not practicing since suffering a torn ACL at Stanford in Dec. 2018," Standig writes. He projects Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic to start the season ahead of Love on the depth chart. We remain intrigued by Love's talent in a still-unsettled Washington backfield. But he's just a bench stash in deep fantasy leagues and a waiver-wire watch-list guy in shallower setups.

RBs Adrian Peterson and Antonio Gibson appear to be atop Washington's depth chart right now. According to Kyle Stackpole of the team's official site, Peterson has been the starter in camp so far, with Gibson also receiving a "fair amount of 1st-team reps." RBs Bryce Love and Peyton Barber have worked primarily with the 2nd and 3rd teams. This remains a fluid situation, but Peterson and Gibson should be the first 2 Washington RBs off the board in fantasy drafts. Love is a worthwhile late-round flier.

Washington HC Ron Rivera has been encouraged by what he's seen from RB Bryce Love early in training camp. "He's a guy that's multi-dimensional," Rivera said. "At Stanford, he didn't have to do a lot of routes and pass catching, but he's very capable and we're getting to see that. This is a guy that could be an every-down back for you. He's an explosive, dynamic player." Love missed his entire 2019 rookie season recovering from a torn ACL suffered in his final college game. He's no stranger to big workloads, though, carrying 263 times for 2,118 yards and 19 scores in 2017. His rushing numbers took a step back in 2018, but he caught a career-high 20 passes. A few Washington reporters have noted that Love appears to be 2nd on the RB depth chart right now -- behind Adrian Peterson but ahead of rookie Antonio Gibson. The situation certainly bears monitoring over the next few weeks.

Police arrested RB Derrius Guice on Friday afternoon on domestic violence-related charges. According to The Washington Post, Guice faces 1 count of strangulation (a felony), 3 counts of assault and battery and 1 count of destruction of property. Washington swiftly announced that it had released Guice. Unless these charges somehow prove to be baseless, don't expect Guice to be on a roster for the coming NFL season. Adrian Peterson now looks like the lead ball-carrier for Washington, with Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber as his current competition. We'll see if the team adds a free agent (*cough* Devonta Freeman *cough*).

Washington RB Bryce Love is still working to rehab the knee in which he tore the ACL to end his college career. “Bryce is still going through his rehab process, and we’ll get into that once we start getting ready to report, whenever that is,” HC Ron Rivera told The Athletic. “But he is going through his rehab program right now, and he’s progressing daily." Love didn't play at all as a rookie, and it sounds like his status for 2020 remains uncertain. Of course, the team's Round 3 selection of RB Antonio Gibson will not help available opportunity even if Love does prove ready by the fall. The former Stanford RB is no more than a deep dynasty stash at this point.

There were whispers that the Redskins' selection of Stanford RB Bryce Love in the 4th round of the draft was a bad sign for RB Derrius Guice's recovery from last year's torn ACL. HC Jay Gruden said Saturday that that isn't the case and that Guice is on track to be "full-go" before training camp. He reportedly needed 4 surgeries on the injured knee -- 1 to repair the ligament and 3 more to address an infection. Guice's status will be 1 of the bigger storylines in fantasy football come August. Love, of course, is also recovering from a torn ACL suffered in December. He told reporters that he's hoping to be ready at some point during training camp.

The Redskins nabbed Stanford RB Bryce Love in the 4th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Love would have come off the board much earlier had he been in last year’s draft. He popped off 2,118 yards and 19 scores on 263 carries (8.1 YPC) in 2017. But Love struggled with injuries and a weaker offensive line this past season, finishing with 739 yards and 6 TDs on 4.5 yards per carry. Then he tore his right ACL in the regular-season finale. That injury makes Love a long shot to contribute this season — but there’s intriguing long-term upside here if he can return to 2017 form. The landing spot isn’t ideal, though, alongside 2018 2nd-rounder Derrius Guice.
