Texans RB C.J. Prosise is inactive for today's game vs. the Bengals. He was left off the final injury report, so he looks like a healthy scratch. With RB Duke Johnson also out, David Johnson will dominate backfield work for Houston again today.
Texans RB Duke Johnson (neck) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. Houston will get RB C.J. Prosise back for this one, but RB David Johnson handle the vast majority of the backfield work.
Texans RBs Duke Johnson (neck) and C.J. Prosise (ankle) have been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Colts. David Johnson is now a candidate to handle 100% of Houston's RB touches. The matchup isn't ideal, but Johnson is a volume-based RB2 candidate.
Texans RB Duke Johnson (neck) is questionable for this weekend's game against the Colts. He was limited on Wednesday and sidelined on Thursday and Friday. RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) is also listed as questionable. If both guys are out, David Johnson could handle 100% of Houston's RB touches.
The Texans expect WR Brandin Cooks (quad) to play today against the Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's listed as questionable but appears to be about the same as last week -- when he played through a questionable tag. Cooks only caught 2 balls in that game and gets probably an even tougher matchup with Baltimore. We'd try to go in another direction if you can.
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said after Sunday's loss to the Cardinals that RBs Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) are both out for the season. Ouch. Seattle figures to add a RB this week, but Travis Homer will now be atop the depth chart. The 6th-round rookie finished with 16 yards on 5 carries but 6 catches for 26 more yards vs. Arizona. He goes 5'10, 201 pounds and earned a 79th percentile SPARQ score in pre-draft testing. Homer will be a volume-based fantasy starter vs. the 49ers next weekend.
Seahawks RB Chris Carson injured his hip in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Cardinals and is officially questionable to return. We'll pass along an update when we get one. RB C.J. Prosise is done for the day with an arm injury. That leaves Travis Homer as Seattle's only healthy RB.
Update: Carson has been ruled out.
Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny tore his left ACL in Sunday night's loss to the Rams, HC Pete Carroll announced Monday. That obviously ends Penny's season, and the timing could challenge his readiness for the start of 2020. We'll see about his progress over the summer. The injury makes RB Chris Carson an even clearer workhorse for upside matchups with Carolina and Arizona the next 2 weeks. C.J. Prosise was the only other Seattle back to play against the Rams, and he garnered just 1 touch.
Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. C.J. Prosise will step back in as Seattle's #2 RB -- but Chris Carson should be in for another monster workload.
Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is not expected to play against the Saints today after injuring his hamstring in Friday's practice, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter adds that the injury isn't serious, so Penny seemingly has a good shot to be back for Week 4. But his absence today is a nice boost for RB Chris Carson. Penny handled 33% of Seattle's RB carries through 2 weeks. Most of those figure to go to Carson. C.J. Prosise will serve as the Seahawks' #2 RB but isn't a fantasy option.
Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is questionable for this weekend's game against the Saints after injuring his hamstring in Friday's practice. His absence would give RB Chris Carson's volume projection a boost and leave C.J. Prosise as Seattle's #2 RB. We'll look for an update on Penny's status Sunday morning. Seahawks-Saints doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm ET.
Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is inactive for today’s game against the Rams. Mike Davis should serve as Seattle’s lead back and is an upside RB2 in fantasy lineups. RBs Rashaad Penny and C.J. Prosise are also active for the ‘Hawks.
Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise (abdomen) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He's played just 25 snaps through 3 weeks and is off the fantasy radar.
Seahawks RB J.D. McKissic suffered a Jones Fracture in his foot in practice, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Schefter adds that McKissic is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks, but we've seen this injury cause long-term complications. McKissic was battling C.J. Prosise for a pass-catching role in Seattle's backfield but obviously won't be an early-season factor now.
Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise missed Thursday night's preseason opener with what HC Pete Carroll called "a little hip injury." There's no such thing as a little injury for Prosise, who's missed 21 of 32 games over the past 2 years with a variety of ailments. Prosise had reportedly been operating as Seattle's primary 3rd-down back in training camp, but he needs to get and stay healthy if he wants to win that role. He's just a late-round flier in PPR drafts right now.
The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta considers Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise the "leader for the role of being the two-minute, third-down back." Prosise has received lots of snaps with the 1st-team offense early in training camp, according to Condotta. Injuries have wrecked his first 2 NFL seasons, but Prosise has averaged a big 12.8 yards per catch on 23 receptions in 11 outings. He played both RB and WR at Notre Dame, totaling 55 grabs across his final 2 seasons. There's plenty of pass-catching ability here. Prosise is still no more than a late-round flier in PPR drafts right now. But he could certainly be a thorn in the side of RB Rashaad Penny's fantasy value.
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll called Rashaad Penny a "3-down back" on Thursday night. It was pretty clear the team viewed him as such when they spent the 27th overall pick on him. GM John Schneider said he was set to take Penny at #18 if he wasn't able to trade down. Carroll admitted that Penny needs to work on his pass protection -- a facet in which he struggled at San Diego State -- but added, "he will give us the ability to play him on all downs and that versatility is really big." We'll see how big a pass-catching role Penny earns in a backfield that still includes C.J. Prosise. But he's clearly on track to lead the way in carries on an offense that might be ready to lean back toward the run. There's clear RB2 potential here for 2018.
The Seahawks selected San Diego State RB Rashaad Penny with the 27th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Wow — this is the 1st real shocker of the night. Not only did Seattle use a 1st-rounder on Penny, but they selected him ahead of Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Penny had a massive 2017 campaign, racking up 2,248 yards and 23 TDs on a 7.8 yards-per-carry average. That followed 7.5 yards per carry on 136 totes playing behind Donnel Pumphrey in 2016. The knocks against Penny are in the passing game. He totaled just 42 catches over the past 3 years (including 19 last year) and struggles in pass protection. The 1st-round investment likely means Seattle views Penny as a 3-down back, though. And he doesn't have much competition in a backfield that includes only Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis and J.D. McKissic.
The Seahawks have placed RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) on IR. He was hobbled by a right ankle injury for most of the season and then hurt his left ankle in last Thursday night's game. Prosise has now appeared in just 11 of 32 games over his first 2 NFL seasons. His dynasty value has taken a significant hit. J.D. McKissic will serve as Seattle's passing-down back the rest of the way.
Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise re-injured his ankle again in the 3rd quarter of Thursday night's game against the Cardinals. He's been struggling with this ankle since late-September and handled just 3 carries tonight before exiting. Prosise isn't worth rostering outside of deep fantasy leagues.
Update: HC Pete Carroll said after the game that Prosise actually injured his other ankle.
