Police arrested RB Derrius Guice on Friday afternoon on domestic violence-related charges. According to The Washington Post, Guice faces 1 count of strangulation (a felony), 3 counts of assault and battery and 1 count of destruction of property. Washington swiftly announced that it had released Guice. Unless these charges somehow prove to be baseless, don't expect Guice to be on a roster for the coming NFL season. Adrian Peterson now looks like the lead ball-carrier for Washington, with Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber as his current competition. We'll see if the team adds a free agent (*cough* Devonta Freeman *cough*).

The Redskins added RB Antonio Gibson in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Here’s 1 of the biggest wild cards in this year’s draft. Gibson spent his first 2 college seasons at East Central Community College before transferring to Memphis. He tallied just 6 touches in his first year with the Tigers before breaking out as an offensive weapon this past season. Gibson caught 38 balls for 735 yards (19.3 YPC) and 8 TDs, while adding 369 yards and 2 scores on 33 carries (11.2 YPC). He also averaged a big 28.0 yards with 1 TD on 23 kick returns, earning Conference USA Co-Special Teams Player of the Year honors. Per Pro Football Focus, Gibson broke a ridiculous 33 tackles on his 71 offensive touches this past season. Then he went to the Combine and blazed a 4.39-second 40 time at 6’0 and 228 pounds and earned an 83rd percentile SPARQ score. We think Gibson would work best at RB — and that’s where he was announced when Washington picked him. Of course, this is a crowded backfield with Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson.

The Redskins have exercised RB Adrian Peterson's 2020 option, which will pay him $2.25 million in 2020. The future Hall-of-Famer averaged 4.3 yards per carry while leading Washington with 211 carries and 899 rushing yards last year. A healthy Derrius Guice figures to lead the 2020 Redskins backfield -- but Peterson is strong veteran insurance.

The Redskins have placed RB Derrius Guice on IR with his sprained MCL. Smart move for the 3-10 Redskins to just shelve Guice for the final 3 games. This injury isn't serious and shouldn't impact his 2020 offseason -- but durability remains a major concern with Guice. On the other hand, he flashed his immense talent in limited action this year, averaging a big 5.8 yards per carry. He'll be 1 of the bigger risk/reward picks in 2020 fantasy drafts.

Redskins RB Derrius Guice has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Guice has already been ruled out for Week 15. And Rapoport confirms that Washington "will be cautious -- so [Guice] may not play again this season." The good news is that the injury shouldn't impact Guice's offseason.

Washington HC Bill Callahan said Monday that RB Derrius Guice will not play against the Eagles in Week 15, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That's no surprise after Guice sprained a knee ligament in Sunday's loss to the Packers. We'll see if the team brings him back over the final 2 weeks. Adrian Peterson isn't an exciting option against a tough Philly run D, but he should be in for a full rushing workload. That alone makes him a low-end RB2 candidate for fantasy.

Redskins RB Derrius Guice is believed to be dealing with a sprained left MCL, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The severity of that sprain will determine how long Guice is sidelined. It's worth noting that this is the same knee in which he tore the ACL last year. With nothing to play for, the Redskins would be wise to play it safe with Guice. Fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on him the rest of the way.

Redskins RB Derrius Guice injured his left knee in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Packers. He was able to get off the field under his own power but is officially questionable to return. Guice, of course, has a long history of knee injuries. We'll update his status when we learn more.

Redskins RB Chris Thompson (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Panthers after a limited week of practice. Insider J.P. Finlay hears that Thompson is expected to play. He figures to replace Wendell Smallwood as Washington’s pass-catching back and will continue to put a cap on RB Derrius Guice’s receiving upside.

Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (toe) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Lions. He only got in a limited practice on Friday. Peterson shouldn’t be in your fantasy plans after finishing 3rd among Washington RBs in snaps last week, but his absence would be a big boost for Derrius Guice. RB Chris Thompson (toe) is also listed as questionable but is tentatively expected to play. He figures to take over for Wendell Smallwood as the pass-catching back.

Redskins RB Chris Thompson (toe) put in a limited practice on Wednesday -- his 1st since going down back in Week 6. We'll see if he's able to return for Sunday's game against the Lions. Thompson would figure to replace Wendell Smallwood as Washington's primary passing-down back and put a dent in Derrius Guice's stock.

Washington RB Derrius Guice will see his first action today since Week 1. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "It's likely that Guice gets his carries and catches on third down to begin with." Adrian Peterson is expected to keep operating as the starter and should lead the team in carries against the Jets. We'll see how much work Guice gets and how involved he'll be in the passing game. The continued absence of RB Chris Thompson (toe) helps free up playing time and touches.

Redskins RB Chris Thompson (toe) is out for Sunday’s game against the Jets. RB Derrius Guice is set to return from his knee injury and will form a committee backfield alongside Adrian Peterson. It’s a situation to try to avoid vs. a surprisingly stout Jets run defense.

Redskins interim HC Bill Callahan said that he'll deploy a committee backfield with RBs Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice. "We've got a pretty good rotational system for that," Callahan said. "We feel pretty confident [Guice will] see quite a bit of action this weekend." Try to take a wait-and-see approach with this situation and avoid both RBs against a surprisingly stout Jets run defense.

Redskins interim HC Bill Callahan said that RB Derrius Guice (knee) is on track to return when 1st eligible in Week 11. He got back on the practice field on Monday. It'd make sense for the 1-7 'Skins to get another look at Guice down the stretch, rather than pounding Adrian Peterson into the ground. Guice is worth stashing now in deeper fantasy leagues.

The Redskins have placed RB Derrius Guice (knee) on IR. It's unclear if he'll be a candidate to return, but he's out for at least 8 weeks. Guice can be dropped in leagues without an IR spot or super deep benches. Adrian Peterson steps back in as Washington's lead back after rushing for 1,042 yards on 4.2 yards per carry last year. Peterson won't contribute much in the passing game, though, and should only be considered a RB3 on fantasy rosters.

Redskins RB Derrius Guice indeed underwent surgery on Thursday and is out "indefinitely," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We should get a more concrete timetable for Guice's return over the next few days. He's worth stashing if you have an IR spot or a deep bench. But he's also cuttable if you're desperate for immediate help. Adrian Peterson takes over as Washington's lead back, with Chris Thompson continuing to dominate passing-down work.
