The Eagles have ruled DE Derek Barnett and DT Fletcher Cox out for Sunday night's season finale against Washington. With DE Josh Sweat on IR, that leaves Vinny Curry to start opposite Brandon Graham for the 2nd straight game. He carries intriguing upside against Washington. With Cox missing, Javon Hargrave and Malik Jackson figure to be the top 2 at DT again.
Former Broncos DE Malik Jackson confirmed Tuesday that he has agreed to a 6-year deal with the Jaguars. The full contract will be worth $90 million when he signs it Wednesday -- at the real start of free agency -- with $42 million guaranteed, according to The Associated Press. Primarily a 3-4 DE in Denver, Jackson's expected to play more DT for the 4-3 Jaguars. He can also play some end in such sets, and that versatility no doubt helped his attractiveness on the open market. Jackson's a strong pickup for what should be an improved Jacksonville defense, and he should continue to deliver IDP value even in an altered role.
Broncos DL Malik Jackson left Sunday's win over the Ravens early with a concussion. The Thursday-night timing for Denver's Week 2 matchup with the Chiefs almost certainly means Jackson will sit out. We'll see if he can get back for a Week 3 date with the Lions. Antonio Smith primarily played in Jackson's right DE spot after Jackson left.
