Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions have told EDGE Trey Flowers they plan to release him on the 1st day of the new league year (March 16). Flowers played out 3 seasons of his 5-year deal with Detroit but missed 19 of 33 possible games over the past 2 campaigns. Releasing him clears about $10 million in cap space but leaves about $12.9 million in dead cap on the roll, according to Spotrac. We'll see where he lands ahead of his age-29 season.

The Lions have ruled EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) and CB A.J. Parker (ankle) out for Thursday's game against the Bears. DL Michael Brockers (knee) is questionable after being limited in practice the past 2 days.

The Lions have ruled EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Browns. S Tracy Walker (concussion) is questionable. We'll check his status Sunday.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) is active for today's game against the Eagles.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles. He spent all week limited in practice after playing through a questionable tag last week. We'd bet he'll play, but we'll confirm his status Sunday.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) is active for today's game against the Rams.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) is active for today's game against the Bengals. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.

The Lions expect EDGE Trey Flowers (knee) to play today against the Bengals. He's officially questionable, so we'll update his status when the inactives come out.

Lions DE Trey Flowers (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals. He put in limited practices all week. We'll check his status Sunday morning.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers is active for today's game against the Vikings. He missed the past 2 games while dealing with shoulder and knee issues. Flowers remained limited in practice all this week, listed with only the knee. He's available but still a risky IDP option.

The Lions have ruled EDGE Trey Flowers out for the 2nd game in a row. He's dealing with shoulder and knee injuries. Fellow EDGE Romeo Okwara (shouler) and DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) are questionable for Sunday's trip to Chicago. Each played through questionable tags last week, though. So we'd expect them to play.

Lions DE Trey Flowers (shoulder) is inactive for today's game against the Ravens. DE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) is active. DT Michael Brockers (shoulder) is also active.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (shoulder, knee), DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) and EDGE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) are all questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Flowers missed practice all week and probably shouldn't be in IDP lineups even if he plays. Okwara and Brockers each put in limited practices all week. We'll update the status on all 3 Sunday morning. Detroit has already ruled out LB Jamie Collins after confirming that they're trying to trade the veteran. That should clear the way for rookie LB Derrick Barnes to get his 1st start, though we'd like to see the size of his role before considering him for IDP lineups.

Lions DE Trey Flowers is questionable for Monday night's game against the Packers. He's dealing with a shoulder issue that limited him in practice all week. We'll update his status Monday evening, but Flowers isn't worth waiting for unless you need to. Lions DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) is also questionable for the game.

New Lions DC Todd Wash says he'll work from a 3-4 base front, according to the Detroit Free Press. Wash adds that DEs Trey Flowers and Romeo Okwara have moved to OLB. For practical purposes, that shouldn't mean much difference for their roles. Each will still primarily rush the passer in passing situations. The question will be whether league-hosting sites change the position eligibility for Flowers and/or Okwara. The Lions still list both guys at DE on the team website, so we wouldn't bet on a universal position switch. But keep an eye out for that possibility where you play. In most cases, switching from DE to LB will mean a dip in IDP value, even if a player posts identical stats. That's because most scoring systems produce bigger fantasy totals among LBs, thanks mostly to tackle scoring.
