New Lions DC Todd Wash says he'll work from a 3-4 base front, according to the Detroit Free Press. Wash adds that DEs Trey Flowers and Romeo Okwara have moved to OLB. For practical purposes, that shouldn't mean much difference for their roles. Each will still primarily rush the passer in passing situations. The question will be whether league-hosting sites change the position eligibility for Flowers and/or Okwara. The Lions still list both guys at DE on the team website, so we wouldn't bet on a universal position switch. But keep an eye out for that possibility where you play. In most cases, switching from DE to LB will mean a dip in IDP value, even if a player posts identical stats. That's because most scoring systems produce bigger fantasy totals among LBs, thanks mostly to tackle scoring.
Lions HC Matt Patricia said Monday that the team will place DE Trey Flowers on IR with an undisclosed injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Detroit expects to get Flowers back this season. We'll see about further details on this situation, but Flowers hasn't been a strong IDP contributor so far this season. He's OK to drop for a replacement in leagues of shallow-to-moderate depth. Flowers' absence will leave room for Romeo Okwara to continue playing starter snaps even with Everson Griffen becoming available off last week's trade.
Lions DT Damon HArrison (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Bears. DE Trey Flowers (concussion) is active, though, and ready to be a solid IDP option. DE Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) and S Tracy Walker (knee) are also active. Hand is no more than a low-level factor. A healthy Walker has been a weekly IDP starter this season, but he carries significant risk this week. Walker previously returned for Week 11 but left that game early.
Lions DE Trey Flowers (concussion), S Tracy Walker (knee), DT Damon Harrison (knee) and DE Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) are questionable for today's game against the Bears. Flowers progressed to a full practice Wednesday, but we have yet to see that he has gained full clearance to return from his concussion. If he gets that Thursday, he'll be a nice IDP option against the Bears. Walker remained limited all week. The last time he tried to return from this knee injury found him leaving that game in the 1st half. He's too risky for Week 13. Harrison has played through "questionable" tags the past 2 weeks and should be fine. Hand has only appeared in 2 games all season and missed the past 3 with the injury that continued to limit him in practice this week. We'll update the statuses on all 4 around 10:30 a.m. ET. Detroit has already ruled out CB Rashaan Melvin (ribs) for the 2nd straight game.
The Lions have ruled DE Trey Flowers (concussion) and S Tracy Walker (knee) out for Sunday's game against Washington. That keeps rookie S Will Harris in the starting lineup in Walker's spot. Detroit will be thin at DE, with Da'Shawn Hand also out.
Lions DE Trey Flowers sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. We'll see whether he can progress through the league protocol in time for Week 12, but this isn't the 1st concussion of Flowers' career.
The Lions have activated DE Trey Flowers from the PUP list. NFL.com's Jelani Scott reports that the free-agent addition joined his team for practice Saturday. Flowers opened camp on the PUP as he worked back from offseason shoulder surgery, a known issue at his signing. We'll watch his progress, but Flowers should be fine to draft as planned in IDP leagues.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that former Patriots DE Trey Flowers will be signing with the Lions when free agency opens Wednesday. Flowers tallied 7, 6.5 and 7.5 sacks over the past 3 seasons but carries further upside in the form of hidden pressures. Pro Football Focus graded Flowers 8th among all 4-3 DEs and counted the 11th most pressures for the position in 2018. Flowers rated in a similar range each of the previous 2 seasons as well. In Detroit, he'll rejoin former New England DC Matt Patricia (now the Lions HC). Expect to find Flowers in DL2 territory in our 2019 IDP projections.
Patriots S Patrick Chung and DE Trey Flowers (concussions) are both active for today's game against the Dolphins. Both make sense as IDP options depending on league size and your other available options.
Patriots S Patrick Chung and DE Trey Flowers are questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Each guy missed Week 3 with a concussion. They put in limited practices this week, and Flowers told reporters Wednesday he expected to be ready to play Sunday. We'll see about the status of each starter on Sunday.
The Patriots on Saturday ruled DE Trey Flowers and S Patrick Chung out for Sunday night's game at Detroit. Each is dealing with a concussion. We'll see about their progress heading into Week 4.
Patriots S Patrick Chung left Sunday's loss to the Jaguars with a concussion. He and DE Trey Flowers must pass through the league protocol before returning to play. We'll watch the status of each guy heading toward Sunday night's visit to Detroit.
Patriots DE Trey Flowers left the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a concussion. The team quickly announced that he had entered the protocol. We saw a couple of preseason instances where a player was reported to have entered the league protocol but turned out to not have a concussion. Barring a return today, though, Flowers figures to be monitored all week and a question mark for Week 3.
Patriots DE Trey Flowers didn't appear in a single preseason game and put in limited work throughout training-camp practices because of an undisclosed injury. But MassLive's Andrew Callahan reports that Flowers is expected to play in Week 1. "Yeah, man. That's the plan," Flowers said Sunday. "I play football, so it's time for football to be played." IDP owners should plan to use Flowers against the Texans. We'll adjust expectations beyond that if we see his playing time limited.
Patriots DE Trey Flowers (rib) is active for today's game against the Steelers. He missed last week but is OK to use as you normally would in your IDP league.
The Patriots on Sunday downgraded DE Trey Flowers to out for Monday night's game against the Dolphins. It'll mark the 2nd straight game he has missed with his rib injury. LB/DE Eric Lee stepped in against the Bills last week and played 85% of the snaps. DE Deatrich Wise also saw a boost in playing time, staying on the field for 86.6% of snaps. Each is an option if you need to replace Flowers in your IDP lineup.
Patriots DE Trey Flowers is questionable for Monday night's game against the Dolphins. He put in limited practices all week, just as he did last week before going inactive against the Bills. Make sure you have an insurance option available if you plan to wait for Flowers in your IDP lineup.
The Patriots late Saturday night ruled DE Trey Flowers out for today's game against the Bills because of a rib injury. That removes the top pass rusher from a New England defense that has played well for weeks, which dings the upside for the team D against Buffalo. It's still a starter-worthy fantasy defense, though.
