A.J. Brown Fails To Cash In Against A Beatable Secondary

Patriots WR A.J. Brown caught 3 of 6 targets for 48 scoreless yards in Thursday night's loss to the Bears. New England went to him on its first snap, but QB Drake Maye's pass sailed over his head. Brown then disappeared from the target column until an 18-yard catch just before halftime. His four second-half targets produced catches of 16 and 14 yards, plus a pair of deep incompletions broken up in tight coverage.

The Patriots placed WR Romeo Doubs on IR with the shoulder injury he suffered in the Week 6 win over the Jets. We don't have any further details on Doubs' injury, but he's out at least the next 4 games. Doubs can be dropped in most redraft fantasy leagues. His absence leaves A.J. Brown and Demario Douglas as New England's top 2 WRs, with Efton Chism and Kyle Williams behind them. WR Mack Hollins (calf) is eligible to come off IR in Week 9.

Patriots WR A.J. Brown returned from a high ankle sprain to record 3 catches for 27 yards on 10 targets. The film might be even uglier than the box score suggests.

Patriots WR A.J. Brown (ankle) is active for today's game vs. the Jets. It’ll be his first action since suffering a high-ankle sprain in the opener. Brown remained limited in practice all week and probably still isn’t at 100%. That has him sitting a bit lower than usual in our Week 6 rankings. Check your Team Dashboard to see if Brown belongs in your starting lineup.

The Patriots will "likely" activate WR A.J. Brown from IR this afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Brown is about 5.5 weeks removed from a high-ankle sprain that was originally expected to cost him 6 weeks. He was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable. But Brown is evidently set to play against the Jets tomorrow. He'll carry more risk than usual coming off the injury but will be worth getting back into most fantasy lineups. We'll look for any reports on limited playing time for Brown. His return is a boost to the red-hot Drake Maye and makes New England's other pass catchers tough to trust in fantasy lineups.

Update: Brown has been activated from IR, putting him on track to play vs. the Jets.
