        Bills Fire Sean McDermott

The Bills have fired HC Sean McDermott, according to multiple reports. McDermott spent nine seasons at the helm in Buffalo, 98-50 in the regular season with just one non-winning campaign: 6-10 back in 2018, his second year. Each of his other eight Bills teams reached the playoffs. Five straight won the AFC East before this year's club finished second behind the Patriots. McDermott's Bills went 8-8 in the playoffs, winning at least one game each of the past six seasons.

Buffalo's loss to Philadelphia on Sunday ended the Bills' chances of winning the division. That might be enough to motivate the team to bench starters in the regular-season finale against the Jets.

The Bills on Sunday announced that Joe Brady will remain OC. He drew praise amid the Bills' 6-1 finish to the regular season. But it's tough to pinpoint evidence he actually improved the offense. Buffalo fared worse in offensive DVOA and EPA per play after the OC switch. Brady's version of the offense leaned run more, which might have helped decrease the turnovers. But that turnover dip also just might have been the positive side of normal variance. WR Stefon Diggs fell off over the season's second half, with no single pass-catcher seeing a huge fantasy benefit. Buffalo has other questions to address on offense this season, including whether Diggs stays, whether WR Gabe Davis returns (he's headed for free agency), and what changes occur in the backfield. We'll have initial projections out right after the Super Bowl, but plenty could change with the Bills beyond that point.

The Bills have fired OC Ken Dorsey, in the wake of Monday night's loss to the Broncos. Buffalo has proved a bit inconsistent on offense this year but still ranks third in offensive DVOA and third in yards per play. The No. 7 ranking in scoring marks a bit of a drop vs. finishes of second, fifth, and second the past three years. Buffalo now turns to Joe Brady, who has served as QBs coach since last season after a little less than two years as Panthers OC. Brady's Carolina offenses obviously didn't do anything special but were also working with much less at QB and the other skill positions. We'll see about the impact Brady has, but it's tough to either upgrade or downgrade any Bills offensive pieces in fantasy for this move.
