Kaytron Allen Lands with the Commanders in Round 6

The Washington Commanders selected Penn State RB Kaytron Allen in Round 6 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Allen brings one of the most well-rounded profiles in this RB class. The four-year contributor rushed for 867 yards and 10 TDs as a freshman. Over his final two seasons, Allen piled up 2,411 yards and 23 TDs on 430 carries, out-producing teammate Nick Singleton. Allen finished as Penn State’s all-time leading rusher with 4,180 yards. Among the 20 RBs invited to the NFL Combine, Allen ranked second in 2025 rushing market share (61.2%), and fifth in yards after contact per attempt (3.77). He ranked fourth in 2025 missed tackles forced per attempt (0.27) and 20th in receiving yards per route run (0.48). He is currently 23 years old.

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez is inactive for today's game vs. the Cowboys after waking up sick this morning. That leaves RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the lead role. He carried 18 times for 96 yards and a score on a 55% snap rate when Rodriguez missed Week 15. That came in a Commanders win over a pathetic Giants run defense, though. Dallas' run defense has been better since adding DL Quinnen Williams, who's active today. And the Commanders are 8.5-point underdogs. That leaves Croskey-Merritt as a risk/reward RB3 in fantasy lineups.

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. returned from a one-game injury to easily lead his backfield in playing time, opportunities, and production in Saturday's loss to the Eagles. Rodriguez played 28 of 54 snaps, vs. 15 for Jeremy McNichols and 11 for Jacory Croskey-Merritt. He logged 63 yards and a TD on 15 carries, nearly doubling his nearest teammate in carries and accounting for 70% of the team's rushing yardage. Croskey-Merritt carried eight times for 25 yards and a TD. McNichols rushed only once for 3 yards.

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (groin) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Giants. That leaves Jacory Croskey-Merritt as Washington’s likely lead ball carrier, although RB Jeremy McNichols could also pick up extra rushing work. Consider Croskey-Merritt an upside RB3 vs. the Giants’ 31st-ranked RB defense.

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (groin) will test his injury in warmups before deciding whether he can play vs. the Giants today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rodriguez got in just two limited practices this week and is listed as questionable. We'll get Washington's inactives around 11:30 am ET, but Rodriguez will carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he does suit up. If not, RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt would be the favorite to lead the team in carries, with RB Jeremy McNichols also potentially picking up more work.
