ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Commanders "plan" to rule RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt out for Monday night's game against the 49ers because of his groin injury. Croskey-Merritt missed practice all week.
Update: Croskey-Merritt has been ruled out. HC Dan Quinn said he aggravated the groin injury he suffered in late August. JCM at least gets a well-timed Week 7 bye.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Rachaad White Takes Lead
His absence turns the starting job over to Rachaad White, who beat JCM in playing time last week. His superior receiving profile already presented more upside vs. a San Francisco defense that has allowed the most RB receptions and second-most (tied) receiving yards this season.
White's up to No. 21 in our PPR rankings at RB for Week 6.
Austin Ekeler figures to operate as the No. 2 RB, though ESPN's John Keim reports that Ekeler donned a non-contact jersey for Saturday's practice.
That probably doesn't challenge his game status but could point to a limited role. We'll see what else comes out about Washington RBs ahead of the remaining Week 6 games.
