Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins took 10 carries for 135 yards and a TD while adding three receptions for four yards in the game against the Raiders. Most of Dobbins damage happened in the second half where he racked up 131 yards on eight carries, including a big 61-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Dobbins looked like the 1B in the first half, ceding carries to RB Gus Edwards, but Edwards 2.4 yards per carry were not getting it done.
The Chargers turned more to Dobbins in the second half where he flashed some of the explosion and agility that made him a second round pick back in 2020.
He appeared to be the main pass-catching back for the Chargers, though there wasn't much available through the air for Dobbins after catching the football.
This certainly bodes well for Dobbins future as the potential starter as a do it all runner who showed he can break the big run in this game.
Next week, the Chargers draw the Panthers, who gave up 180 rushing yards today to the Saints, including two TDs.
It might be another smash spot for Dobbins who has some flex appeal in this Chargers offense that works through the run first before forcing the pass.
