Colts QB Anthony Richardson attended practice Wednesday for the first time in a while. His IR status keeps him off the injury report for the week, but video shows him wearing a red, non-contact jersey. That indicates some level of participation. Richardson has been out since suffering an orbital-bone fracture (eye socket) before the Week 6 win over the Cardinals.
What They're Saying
James Boyd of The Athletic: "First time I've seen him at practice in weeks. HC Shane Steichen said Monday that AR wouldn't be elevated off IR this week, but he hasn't been ruled out for the year."
ESPN's Stephen Holder last week: "There was initially serious concern about Richardson's eye ... with Richardson rushed to the hospital by paramedics. But he ultimately avoided damage to the eye and has come a long way since those initial days."
Steichen, via Holder: "Any time you're dealing with an eye, you want to make sure he's got full vision in that eye. He's resting it right now, and once he's cleared to go, I'll let you guys know."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
That Holder report came before Indy lost Daniel Jones for the season, which motivated this week's surprise Philip Rivers resurrection.
Perhaps that signing points to the Colts not expecting Richardson to play again this year. But it would be easy for them to go ahead and rule him out if that were the case.
Richardson's rushing ability (arguably?) gives him the best shot of delivering meaningful fantasy value if pressed into duty at any point.
Of course, we can't yet know how the Colts would treat Richardson on the renovated depth chart if he returns. And at best, he'd get two active games (one more if you play through Week 18).
Richardson's stashable if you have room, but don't drop anyone of consequence to acquire him.
Indy's QB plan figures to be one of the most closely watched situations over the next few weeks -- even though it's not likely to deliver strong value for 1-QB formats.
Dynasty Impact
Here's where Richardson definitely remains stashable. Even if the Colts move on from him after this season, he'll still be just 24 heading into the 2026 campaign and likely to land with another team.
It'll be an interesting offseason for Richardson and the Colts' QB room.
