Between the groin injury and upcoming legal issues, it’s been an offseason filled with unfortunate events for Jacobs. For fantasy managers' sake, at least this is a step toward clarity in projecting his upcoming season.
Since arriving to the Packers, Jacobs has finished as a top 10 running back in both seasons with 17.1 and 15.7 PPR points per game (PPG) respectively.
Jacobs handled over 50% of the team's rush attempts in each of the past two seasons and scored over 80% of the Packers' rushing TDs last year. His 81.9% rushing TD share trailed only Ashton Jeanty and Quinshon Judkins.
With so much of the rushing workload belonging to Jacobs and so much uncertainty behind him on the depth chart, any absence is going to thrust an unfamiliar name into a prominent role.
Whether that name is MarShawn Lloyd or Chris Brooks, a Jacobs absence is almost a guarantee at this point. With the charges now announced, we should know the length of any absence soon.
