Omarion Hampton Headshot

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton ran 14 times for just 33 yards (2.4 yards per carry) in Sunday’s 23-17 loss to the Broncos. His longest run went for 11 yards. He caught his only target for 6 yards, finishing with 4.9 PPR points. Hampton played only 18 snaps, behind Kimani Vidal (26) and Keaton Mitchell (19). He didn’t play a single third-down or two-minute drill snap.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: A Steady Decline

Hampton entered the week with 59 carries for 238 yards (4.0 per carry) and 3 TDs, plus 4 catches for 29 yards. Sunday’s 2.4 yards per carry was his worst mark of the season, and he was shut out of the end zone. The bigger issue is his shrinking role. He played 75% of early-down snaps over the first two weeks, but that dropped to 53.6% in Weeks 3 and 4 and 43.6% on Sunday. His third-down share has gone from 18.8% to 13.6% to zero. Hampton has also lost 2 fumbles this season. Denver entered allowing the 6th-most PPR points to RBs (26.1 per game) and ranked 28th in our run defense power rankings, so this was a missed opportunity.

The Chargers host the Chiefs in Week 6, then visit the Rams and Texans. It’s a brutal stretch. Kansas City ranks 22nd in PPR points allowed to RBs (19.1 per game) and eighth in our run defense power rankings. The Rams allow the second-fewest RB points (14.8) and rank 6th in our run defense power ranking. Houston allows the 3rd-fewest (15.8) and ranks seventh in our run defense power rankings. Between his shrinking role and the offensive line problems, Hampton is now an RB3 who should be on your bench where possible.
