Welp, apparently the Eagles quickly went from not even discussing IR for QB Jalen Hurts to deciding that was the way to go. Placing the QB on IR means he'll miss at least the next four games, while the most commonly discussed timeline for his return from a blood clot has been at least six weeks. The exact length, of course, will depend on how his body reacts to the treatment.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: We'll See on McKee
That means Tanner McKee starting at least the next four games, a span that leads into the team's Week 10 bye. So a six-week timeline for Hurts would mean missing just one game beyond the IR minimum (Week 11 vs. Pittsburgh).
The designation makes it easier to drop Hurts in many cases. He sits just 17th among QBs in total fantasy points (depending on your format) and 21st in points per game. Hurts has also finished three straight weeks outside the position's top 20.
So although it might still feel weird to do so, dropping Hurts is a reasonable redraft strategy where you don't have the free IR spot to stash him.
We'll have to see about the McKee effect on Philly's offense. He does have two career starts, but both came in season-ending contests that found the Eagles benching starters. So it's tough to extrapolate those results.
McKee is in his fourth season with the team, however, and withstood a brief shift to Andy Dalton as the backup earlier this season.
That move should add caution to trusting McKee, but we also should note that Philly went back to him quickly rather than seeking another alternative or sticking with Dalton.
McKee gets upside matchups the next four weeks in the Panthers, Cowboys, Commanders, and Giants. We'll see whether that can make him a superflex factor.
We're not dramatically downgrading Eagles pass catchers in our Week 6 rankings for McKee's ascension.
