Gardner Minshew Headshot

Gardner Minshew took over for struggling QB Jacoby Brissett late in the third quarter, helping lead the Cardinals to a shocking fourth-quarter comeback over the Cowboys. Minshew erased a 14-point deficit, completing 17 of 23 pass attempts for 188 yards and 3 TDs to finish as QB10 pending Sunday- and Monday Night Football.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Benching Changed Everything

Against a Cowboys defense that was allowing the sixth-most points to QBs entering Week 8, Brissett completed just 10 of 23 attempts for 119 yards with an INT through nearly three quarters and produced a season-low 3.5 PPR points.

Minshew electrified a dead Cardinals offense with the help of RB Tyler Allegier, who ran for a 63-yard TD on the second play since Brissett was benched. Before he ripped a 52-yard run on his next attempt, setting up Minshew to target him for a TD reception for the second TD in as many drives.

Minshew threw two more TD passes, one to TE Trey McBride and the other to WR Michael Wilson to tie the game with just six seconds left.

The former Washington State QB's 8.2 yards per attempt and 10.8 adjusted yards per attempt marks were the highest from a Cardinals QB in any game this season.

At this point, it’s fair to assume it’s Minshew’s job to lose, but the Cardinals draw a tough Week 9 matchup against a Seahawks defense allowing the second-fewest points to QBs.
