Giants RB Shane Vereen re-tore his tricep in Sunday's win over the Lions. It's been a rough season for the 27-year-old. He 1st tore the tricep in Week 3, suffered a concussion in his return in Week 14 and then tore the tricep again yesterday. Vereen is done for the season, leaving Rashad Jennings, Paul Perkins and Bobby Rainey in New York's backfield.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is inactive for tonight's game against the Packers. Orleans Darkwa is expected to serve as New York’s lead ball-carrier, with Bobby Rainey handling passing downs. Rookie Paul Perkins will sprinkle in for a handful of touches.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is not expected to play against the Packers on Sunday night, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. That'll again leave the backfield to Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins. Darkwa served as the lead ball-carrier last week, finishing with 48 yards and a score against a tough Vikings run defense. Rainey handled most of the passing-down work, hauling in 7 of 9 targets for 43 yards -- although most of those came in garbage time. Raanan expects Perkins' role to "increase slightly," but his pass-blocking deficiencies will continue to limit his playing time. This is a situation to try to avoid against Green Bay's top-ranked run defense. If you're forced to dabble, Darkwa is your best non-PPR bet; Rainey the best PPR play.

ESPN reports that the Giants have ruled RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) out for tonight's meeting with the Vikings. That leaves the backfield as Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and rookie Paul Perkins. You should try to avoid this situation, but Darkwa's the guy if you're forced to play 1. We'll be curious to see if Perkins gets some touches after playing only on special teams to date.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is "unlikely" to play against the Vikings on Monday night, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. That'd leave the G-Men with RBs Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins. Darkwa would be the best fantasy bet as the early-down back. Rainey would figure to see action in passing situations. New York doesn't seem to trust the rookie Perkins yet.

Bucs RB Bobby Rainey (foot) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. He’d been phased out of the offense the past 2 weeks, so his absence doesn’t do much for RB Doug Martin’s Week 14 outlook.

Bucs RB Bobby Rainey (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions. He didn’t practice all week, though, and seems like a long shot to play. Rainey has been phased out of the offense over the past couple games, so his absence isn’t a significant boost for RB Doug Martin.

Bucs RB Bobby Rainey is dealing with a foot injury and was spotted in a walking boot on Wednesday.  His status for this weekend's game against the Lions is obviously in doubt.  Rainey has totaled just 2 carries and 6 catches over the past 2 games, so his absence wouldn't help RB Doug Martin much.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) is out for this weekend’s game against the Redskins. He practiced on Thursday and Friday, so a Week 12 return seems likely. Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey will share carries again for Tampa this week, with Mike James vulturing short-yardage work. Sims is the best fantasy bet, but he’s just a shaky RB3 or flex against a tough Redskins run defense.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) missed practice again on Wednesday.  There's been no indication that he'll return for this weekend's game against the Redskins.  Look for RBs Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey to continue to share the backfield.  Sims' role could grow this week as Tampa evaluates his potential.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) is inactive for today’s game against the Falcons. RB Charles Sims (ankle) is active, but we’re only expecting 6-10 touches in his NFL debut. Bobby Rainey will serve as Tampa’s lead back and is a strong fantasy play in a plus matchup.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) didn’t practice all week and is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Bobby Rainey will get another game as Tampa’s lead back. 15+ touches against the league’s worst RB defense makes Rainey a borderline RB1 for Week 10. Rookie RB Charles Sims is expected to debut on Sunday, but we’re only expecting 6-10 total touches.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) remained sidelined on Wednesday.  That doesn't bode well for his chances of returning for this weekend's game against the Falcons.  (Tampa has no reason to rush him back anyway.)  Look for Bobby Rainey to serve as the lead back in that one, with Charles Sims debuting in a change-of-pace role.

Bucs GM Jason Licht says RB Charles Sims is "very likely" to play against the Falcons this weekend.  Sims appeared to be on track to debut this past Sunday, but Tampa continues to take it slow with its 3rd-round rookie.  That makes us believe he'll start out with a small, change-of-pace role.  Sims' workload could certainly grow down the stretch, and he remains worth stashing in most fantasy leagues.  But he'll only be a RB3 flier for Week 10.  Look for Bobby Rainey to again serve as the Bucs' lead back.  We'll see if RB Doug Martin is ready to return from his ankle injury.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) is inactive for today’s game against the Browns. RB Charles Sims is also inactive. We were hoping to get a look at the rookie ahead of a plus Week 10 matchup against the Falcons. He’ll now be tough to trust in that one even if he plays. Martin and Sims’ absences leave Bobby Rainey as Tampa’s lead back. He could see 20 touches against a Browns defense allowing 4.7 yards per carry to RBs. Mike James is the Bucs’ #2 RB today.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) is listed as doubtful for this weekend's game against the Browns.  He was in a walking boot until Wednesday and didn't practice all week.  He'll be inactive on Sunday.  That'll push RB Bobby Rainey into the lead role.  He's averaging 4.6 yards per carry and 8.2 yards per catch this season.  Rainey's upside will depend on whether RB Charles Sims (ankle) is activated for Week 9.  But even if the rookie plays, Rainey will be a solid RB2 in fantasy football.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) missed another practice on Friday. That makes 3 straight absences for Martin, as he looks doubtful to suit up vs. Cleveland. If that’s the case, Bobby Rainey could see 20+ touches depending on the status of rookie Charles Sims (ankle).  Rainey's certainly capable of approaching RB1 value with that volume, especially since the Browns have allowed 4.7 YPC to RBs.

Bucs RB Doug Martin (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday.  He's at least out of his walking boot but still seems like a long shot to play against the Browns this weekend.  Martin couldn't be trusted in fantasy lineups even if he plays.  If he's inactive, Bobby Rainey will be an intriguing RB2 in a plus matchup.  Rookie RB Charles Sims is expected to debut this week, but he'll likely be on a touch count.

Bucs RB Doug Martin did not practice on Wednesday and was in a walking boot, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  The boot could be anything from precautionary to a sign of a serious injury.  Either way, though, Martin is clearly in danger of missing this weekend's game against the Browns.  "Sounds like Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims time," Schefter tweeted.

Bucs HC Lovie Smith said the team is "staying the course" with Doug Martin as the lead back.  “Doug has done some good things," Smith added. “When you’re the starting tailback, you know what goes along with that. We’d like Doug to get 200 yards every game, but we’re not there yet. But in time, he’ll break out."  Martin is averaging a pitiful 2.5 yards per carry on the season and has yet to top 45 rushing yards in a game.  He hasn't gotten much help from an offensive line that sits 19th in Pro Football Focus' run-blocking rankings.  But Martin has also forced just 2 missed tackles and averaged only 1.8 yards after contact per attempt, according to PFF.  He sits 37th among 53 RBs in PFF's run rankings.  Volume is keeping him in low-end RB2 territory for now.  But the Bucs will have to get Bobby Rainey more involved at some point if Martin keeps struggling.  Rainey is averaging 4.7 yards per carry, has forced 12 missed tackles and averages 2.3 yards after contact.
