The Giants have cut RB Rashad Jennings, saving $2.5 million against the 2017 salary cap. Jennings limped his way to just 3.3 yards per carry this past season and turns 32 in March. His days as a lead back are over. Jennings' departure leaves RB Paul Perkins atop the depth chart. He closed his rookie campaign with 72 carries for 301 yards (4.2 YPC) over his final 6 outings. Perkins is the current favorite for lead-back duties, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Giants add competition this offseason. The rookie RB class looks deep.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan expects RB Paul Perkins to start Sunday's Wild Card game against the Packers. The rookie came on down the stretch, carrying 62 times for 271 yards (4.4 YPC) over the final 4 games. That includes career highs in carries (21) and yards (102) in the finale. “We went back and looked at the film [from Sunday]," HC Ben McAdoo said. "I thought Paul did some good things on tape. Found some runs nicely." RB Rashad Jennings will remain involved, but Perkins is definitely the Giants RB to target in your playoff leagues and DFS.

Giants RB Shane Vereen re-tore his tricep in Sunday's win over the Lions. It's been a rough season for the 27-year-old. He 1st tore the tricep in Week 3, suffered a concussion in his return in Week 14 and then tore the tricep again yesterday. Vereen is done for the season, leaving Rashad Jennings, Paul Perkins and Bobby Rainey in New York's backfield.

The forecast for today's Lions-Giants game calls for a 65% chance of rain with winds of 10-20 mph. Not ideal. It's especially concerning for Lions QB Matt Stafford, who will be playing with an injured middle finger on his throwing hand. He's no better than a mid-range QB2 for Week 15.

Giants RB Shane Vereen (concussion) was on the practice field on Wednesday. He's making quick progress through the protocol after being concussed on Sunday night. Vereen won't be a viable Week 15 fantasy option, but his presence would put a dent in RB Rashad Jennings' projections.

Giants RBs Rashad Jennings and Paul Perkins each carried 15 times for a matching 45 yards in Sunday night's win over the Cowboys. Jennings drew 2 pass targets to 1 for Perkins, catching both for 12 yards. Perkins caught his lone look for no gain. He also lost what would have been his longest run of the night to a holding penalty. Jennings played 11 more snaps than Perkins did, according to Pro Football Focus. He remains the slightly better fantasy option, though neither is poised to help you much the rest of the way.

Giants RB Shane Vereen (triceps) is active for tonight's game against the Cowboys. He can't be trusted in fantasy lineups in his 1st action since Week 3, but his return puts a dent in RB Rashad Jennings' receiving projection.

The Giants on Saturday activated RB Shane Vereen, making him eligible to play in Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. They'd have little reason to do so if they didn't plan to use him at all, though it's tough to know just how much Vereen might play in his 1st action since Week 4. Adding Vereen to an already inconsistent backfield only makes it tougher to trust any Giants RB in fantasy lineups this weekend.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is active for today’s game against the Ravens. He figures to take back over as the lead ball-carrier but could lose passing-game work to RB Bobby Rainey. Jennings is just a RB3 or flex vs. Baltimore’s 2nd-ranked RB defense.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings is expected to start Sunday against the Ravens, barring a setback in Saturday's practice, ESPN's Jordan Ranaan reports. Jennings missed the past 3 games with a thumb injury but expressed confidence earlier this week that he'd be ready to play. We'd still prefer not to use him against a tough Ravens run D. But if you need a Giants back, it looks like Jennings over Orleans Darkwa.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Ravens after a limited week of practice. It’s the same boat he’s been in the last 3 weeks before ending up inactive. Jennings seems more optimistic about his availability this time around, but we’ll have to wait until noon ET on Sunday to see if he plays. He won’t be much of a fantasy option even if he does. Baltimore is ranked 2nd in fantasy points allowed to RBs and is yielding just 3.8 yards per carry.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is inactive for tonight's game against the Packers. Orleans Darkwa is expected to serve as New York’s lead ball-carrier, with Bobby Rainey handling passing downs. Rookie Paul Perkins will sprinkle in for a handful of touches.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is not expected to play against the Packers on Sunday night, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. That'll again leave the backfield to Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins. Darkwa served as the lead ball-carrier last week, finishing with 48 yards and a score against a tough Vikings run defense. Rainey handled most of the passing-down work, hauling in 7 of 9 targets for 43 yards -- although most of those came in garbage time. Raanan expects Perkins' role to "increase slightly," but his pass-blocking deficiencies will continue to limit his playing time. This is a situation to try to avoid against Green Bay's top-ranked run defense. If you're forced to dabble, Darkwa is your best non-PPR bet; Rainey the best PPR play.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is questionable for Sunday night's game against the Packers. He remained limited in practice all week. We might not know Jennings' status until 90 minutes before kickoff. Even if he plays, he'll be a weak fantasy bet vs. a Green Bay defense allowing just 2.0 yards per carry to RBs.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan believes there's a "realistic chance" RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) plays against the Packers on Sunday night. He remained limited in Wednesday's practice. We'll keep an eye on Jennings, but the Giants backfield isn't in a great fantasy spot this week. Green Bay sits 2nd in Football Outsiders' run defense rankings and has allowed just 2 yards per carry to RBs.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is officially inactive for tonight's game against the Vikings. The team announced RB Orleans Darkwa as the starter. He's the best fantasy bet but figures to lose touches to RB Bobby Rainey and potentially RB Paul Perkins.
