The Texans are trading LB Benardrick McKinney to the Dolphins in exchange for EDGE Shaq Lawson. (ESPN's Adam Schefter reports there will also be "a swap of late-round picks." McKinney spent most of the past 6 years starting for Houston after arriving as a 2nd-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He's signed through 2023 at escalating salaries but with cuttable years. McKinney figures to step into a starting role in a LB corps that shed Kyle Van Noy recently. We still prefer Jerome Baker's IDP upside over that of McKinney, though -- assuming Baker keeps his spot. McKinney missed the final 12 games of last season with a shoulder injury. Lawson heads to the Texans after 1 disappointing year with the Dolphins, who signed him in free agency in 2020. He managed just 4 sacks across 14 games. Pro Football Focus, though, did credit Lawson with 15 QB hits, tied for 4th most among all edge players. Houston needs help after seeing no player top 5 sacks in 2020. J.J. Watt collected that team-leading total before leaving for Arizona this offseason. McKinney's departure also leaves room for Christian Kirksey to potentially start next to Zach Cunningham. Kirksey signed a 1-year deal with the Texans earlier this week. Tyrell Adams, who took over after McKinney went down, is set to hit unrestricted free agency this month.
The Packers have activated LB Christian Kirksey. He has been out since Week 3 with a right shoulder injury. Green Bay has had no one settle in as a regular with starter-level playing time at ILB since Kirksey went down. We're treating him as a starter right away for his 1st game back Sunday against Jacksonville. Check out where Kirksey lands in our Week 10 IDP rankings.
The Packers have placed LB Christian Kirksey (pectoral) on IR. That means he'll miss at least the next 3 games, starting with the Monday night Falcons clash we already knew he'd miss. That also should make LB Ty Summers a starter for those 3 games. If he didn't already get claimed off waivers in your IDP league, go ahead and grab him.
ESPN reports that Packers LB Christian Kirksey will miss at least 1 game with the shoulder injury that knocked him out of the win over the Saints Sunday night. The report says that Kirksey will "likely" avoid surgery but that he's awaiting a 2nd opinion. A stint on IR remains a possibility. LB Ty Summers makes for a solid waiver pickup for at least this week, ahead of Monday night's game against the Falcons.
Packers LB Christian Kirksey left in the 1st half of Sunday night's game at New Orleans with a left shoulder injury and was ruled out for the game. Ty Summers stepped in and wore the green dot. If Kirksey misses more time going forward, that could mean a full-time role for Summers -- a 7th-round pick in 2019. We'll watch for updates on Kirksey's status early in the week.
NFL Network reports that the Giants have reached a 3-year, $30 million deal with free-agent LB Blake Martinez. The former Packer spent the past 3 years as an IDP stud after arriving in the 4th round of the 2016 draft. He now moves to a Giants D under new leadership. DC Patrick Graham has spent just 1 season to date as an NFL coordinator: 2019 with the Dolphins. We'll see exactly what his plan is for the LBs. Miami generally found more playing time last season for a 2nd ILB, though, than Green Bay did over the past 3 years. Martinez could lose some tackles off his elite totals from Green Bay -- especially if 2019 rookie Ryan Connelly is all the way back from his ACL tear by September. Expect Martinez to remain prominently in starter territory in our 2020 IDP rankings, but he might slip out of the LB1 range in our initial projections. New Packers LB Christian Kirksey, meanwhile, looks well set up for strong fantasy numbers.
The Packers have reached a 2-year, $16 million deal with LB Christian Kirksey. That's clearly starter money for the former Cleveland Brown. It also makes you wonder whether Green Bay has decided to let veteran ILB Blake Martinez walk in free agency. Martinez figures to command at least as much on the open market -- and likely more. Kirksey should go back to being a solid-to-good IDP LB with the Packers, if he can stay healthy. Injuries limited him to just 9 of a possible 32 games over the past 2 years. We'll see about Martinez.
The Browns have placed LB Christian Kirksey on IR with his chest injury. Kirksey is reportedly still getting opinions on how to treat the injury, which is believed to be a torn pectoral muscle
Browns OLB Christian Kirksey will miss at least Sunday night's game against the Rams with a chest injury he suffered in Week 2, Cleveland.com reports. HC Freddie Kitchens said Thursday that they're still evaluating the injury and wouldn't specify. The concern is that Kirksey tore a pectoral muscle. Cleveland.com reports he might need surgery. We'll keep an eye on Kirksey's situation. Rookie Mack Wilson will start in his place against the Rams and is worth adding in deeper IDP leagues. Kirksey was playing full-time snaps before the injury, and Wilson enjoyed a strong preseason.
The Browns have placed LB Christian Kirksey on IR because of the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. That ends his season and could leave the Browns without 2 of their starting LBs for the Week 10 clash with Atlanta. MLB Joe Schobert has missed the past 3 games with his own hamstring injury. We'll see if he can make it back to the field this week, but he has yet to even practice since suffering the injury. Jamie Collins should be a safe bet for full playing time the rest of the way. Kirksey started at Schobert's middle spot against K.C., with rookie Genard Avery on the weak side. Avery looks like a good bet for more than 50% playing time the rest of the way now and could stick in the 60-75% range -- especially if Schobert remains out. Tanner Vallejo replaced Kirksey after last Sunday's injury and would likely enter the Week 10 lineup if Schobert sits again. Avery's worth a pickup in many IDP leagues this week, bringing pass-rushing upside to go with his recent playing-time upswing.
Browns LB Christian Kirksey left Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a hamstring injury and did not return. That's a new injury for a guy who missed 2 games earlier this season while dealing with shoulder and ankle issues. Cleveland has also been without MLB Joe Schobert since Week 6. We'll see about the status of Kirksey and Schobert for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons. A Week 11 bye waits on the other side.
As expected, Browns LB Christian Kirksey (illness) and S Damarious Randall (heel) are active for today's game against the Ravens. Each guy entered the day questionable but is fine to use as planned in your IDP lineup.
Browns LB Christian Kirksey is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Ravens as he battles the flu. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that the team expects him to play, however. Plan to have Kirksey in your IDP lineups
