The Chargers on Friday placed DE Melvin Ingram on IR. That means he'll miss at least the next 3 games. It also marks the 2nd time this season that knee trouble has landed Ingram on IR. It's not clear yet whether this is the same issue. But you shouldn't count on Ingram returning to help your IDP lineup. The team has also ruled DE Uchenna Nwosu out for Sunday's game against the Bills. That likely means Isaach Rochell starting opposite Joey Bosa. The Chargers have also ruled CB Casey Hayward (groin) out for the Buffalo game.

The Chargers on Monday designated DE Melvin Ingram to return from IR. That gives the team 3 weeks to decide whether to activate Ingram or shut him down for the season. Ingram landed on IR with knee trouble but could return to action as soon as Sunday against the Jaguars. If he makes it back for that game, Ingram would be in serious consideration for IDP lineups. He's at least worth grabbing where available in leagues that start more than 1 D-lineman.

Chargers DE Melvin Ingram is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Ingram put in full practices Wednesday and Thursday but then suddenly sat out Friday with a knee injury. HC Anthony Lynn called it knee soreness that worsened from Thursday to Friday, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Ingram's absence should put Uchenna Nwosu into the starting lineup.

Chargers DE Melvin Ingram hasn't been taking part in practice so far. HC Anthony Lynn has only called it "company business." According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, though, "multiple team sources" have said Ingram is skipping practices because he's "dissatisfied with his contract situation." Ingram is taking part in meetings and other aspects, so it appears it's not technically a holdout. We'll see about Ingram's situation as we get closer to the season. Ingram's situation will also be interesting for future holdout candidates, now that the league's labor deal basically keeps players from actually holding out.

Chargers edge rusher Melvin Ingram will play DE in the team's new 4-3 base, according to the Orange County Register. Many IDP leaguers have anticipated the move, which will at least change Ingram's position for MyFantasyLeague.com leagues this year. The DL tag adds value for a player who has overcome early-career injury struggles to play in every game the past 2 years. Ingram's 19 sacks and 39 total QB hits over that span earned him a large 4-year contract earlier this month.

The Chargers have placed rookie CB Jason Verrett on season-ending IR as he heads toward shoulder surgery. That means San Diego will finish the year without a guy currently tied for 9th in coverage rating at his position by Pro Football Focus. On the plus side, though, the Chargers activated OLB Melvin Ingram on Saturday from short-term IR after a hip injury. Ingram figures to have a little rust to shake off, but he can only help 1 of the league's worst pass rushes.
